Once you create an account and install one of Keepa’s browser extensions, it will automatically display price history charts on every Amazon product page.
This allows you to immediately determine the best time to buy a product. This chart alone saved me from buying products at prices tens of percent higher than their often-found lowest prices, and it’s nice.
Keepa will also let you set up custom pricing alerts for products right on Amazon product pages.
When activated, you can send these price alerts to your email, Facebook, Telegram, desktop notifications, or even an RSS feed.
Keepa makes Amazon price tracking easy and intuitive, and I haven’t found enough reason to switch from it to a competing service.
CamelCamelCamel
CamelCamelCamel is remarkably similar to Keepa. The main difference is the functionality of each website, not the browser extension. The CamelCamelCamel website offers an Amazon price tracking tool that offers very disordered and inconsistent results. This is like a step back from simply searching Amazon directly.
CamelCamelCamel offers browser extensions for Firefox and Chrome users, and its extension works much the same as Keepa.
The key difference is that Keepa’s price charts are embedded in the Amazon page itself, while CamelCamelCamel can be accessed via an extension icon in the browser toolbar. When you go to the Amazon product page, you will see the extension icon light up. Clicking on it will open a product price chart.
The chart allows you to show or hide price types (Amazon, third party new and third party used), and you can easily create price alerts directly from this popup by entering your desired price (s).
Choosing CamelCamelCamel over Keepa is a simple question, whether you need the more advanced website features that Keepa provides, or if you prefer some charts over others. Both work the same and well.
SlickDeals
SlickDeals is very different from Keepa and CamelCamelCamel. This is not a traditional Amazon price tracking service in the sense of maintaining a database of price history. Instead, it relies entirely on the community to submit relevant proposals.
This method of curating deals has its pros and cons, but SlickDeals users have become masters of their craft over the years. SlickDeals was the first to catch a $ 13,000 camera selling for just $ 90 (obvious pricing error), for example during Prime Day 2019.
Amazon is all SlickDeals and this is one of the official stores they list in their search results. This allows users to narrow down the number of deal alerts to those that only appear on Amazon.
While you might not be able to pass the Amazon product URL to SlickDeals to track price fluctuations, you can add a custom deal alert narrowed down to the exact store, category, brand, and keyword. SlickDeals also has an official browser extension, but it looks more like Honey than Keepa or CamelCamelCamel. It looks more like a coupon tracker than a price tracker. However, SlickDeals has one advantage over the other two trackers on this list: it’s a great app for both iOS and Android
