Reddit bills itself as the “front page of the internet” with communities (subreddits) on every topic imaginable. Reddit is a natural evolution of the old-style forums that dominated Web 1.0, and voting buttons democratize what is visible and what is not.
The fact that you can create a subreddit on any legal topic means there are some crazy things out there, many of which you won’t even notice unless you search for them.
So in the name of research, I went hunting for 5 weird subreddits that are not porn. “Strange” is obviously subjective – what I find strange may seem perfectly normal to you. So do not hesitate to challenge my opinion.

It’s funny that in the comments people just write GGGG or some other variation.

If you thought the G-worship subreddit was pretty eccentric, then you haven’t seen anything yet. I present to you Toasters Gone Wild. Parody of porn reddits, Girls Gone Wild, It’s Very Safe to Run Reddit has toasters that people find “interesting.”
I mean, check out this sexy Avanti with toaster and oven where temperatures can skyrocket from “warm” to “hot”!
The headlines of each application are sexually explicit, but the photos themselves are not. They’re just toasters (but god they’re good toasters!).
Pyongyang
When I saw this one, I sincerely thought it was a satire on all North Korean memes, where Kim Jong-un walks with ingratiating assistants with notebooks. But it actually looks like an official subreddit of the North Korean government itself!
Since this is mostly propaganda, its entertainment value is extremely limited (unless you like the statistics on crop quotas). But the fact that North Korea believes it needs to maintain a Reddit presence in all places who exactly are they trying to persuade?
My evil plan
Do you introduce yourself to the Doctor of Evil? Do you have evil plans to take over the world or just do some evil? This subreddit does not condone cruelty or anything like that. It’s more like a prank, where people want to get justice for someone else.
So, one man asks what to do with the phone number of a cheater who is pressured his girlfriend to have an abortion. Someone else has been scammed on eBay and wants advice on how to scam a scammer to give a guy a try on his own medicine and the like.
Nuclear missiles will not be stolen, and no world will be redeemed for ONE MILLION DOLLARS!
Underwater chairs
If you thought Toasters Gone Wild was a bit eccentric, then you obviously haven’t met Chairs Underwater yet. Who knew there was a community out there who are so addicted to chairs sitting in water or underwater?
I mean, the very first post on the page says that any chair image that is not completely underwater should be marked NSFW (not safe to work). Mostly porn.
Some pictures are very strange, like this one. It’s so creepy that it looks like the deck of the Titanic.
Conclusion
The great thing about the Internet is its democracy. People can create communities in any niche without fear of blame. If you want to know how weird certain sections of society are, just take a look at Reddit.
