#1 There is no off button. The machine shuts off after 10-15 minutes of inactivity, using up the battery.#2 To change the battery, one needs the tiniest of screwdrivers to remove a small space for the batteries.#3 Biggest of all is that there are no instructions that one can actually read and when I found a manual online, my system said it was NOT SAFE TO OPEN. Need a manual for all the strange (potentially useful) keys. Such as Check up, check down, correct, MC, MR, GT. Retired CPA here, not impressed! But if you know all that, and what the small window labelled Dual Power is, it’s a great size, much like my Texas Instruments of long ago, still working but a little shabby for the wear, perfect size and it has a tilted screen. Very disappointed, but going back if I can find another of this size. .
I wanted a full size key pad without the bulk and this is it. It just got delivered today, so far so good. Cons: it doesnt stay in place, moves too easy as it only has 2 small button pads on the front underside. Also the CE key is too close to the On key- should be where the GT key is at. All in all i like it. It serves its purpose. .
PURCHASED JAN. 28TH, 2012 FROM AMAZON AND HAVE USED MOST EVERYDAY WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. THE ORIGINAL BATTERY HAS NOT BEEN CHANGED. IT ALSO GETS POWER FROM THE DESK LAMP. READ THE DESCRIPTION ON AMAZON WEBSITE ABOUT THE FEATURES OF THE 1200-4 THEY ARE ALL TRUE. GREAT PRODUCT .
EXACTLY what I was looking for! It has a full size keyboard, with correctly shaped and placed keys to use the 10-key touch method. The added bonus of reviewing entries is awesome. .

I am a bookkeeper and have had Sharp calculators for years but the last one I purchased just did not hold up well at all. So I thought I would try the Victor brand and absolutely love it!! There is no comparison in the quality of the machines. I would recommend this calculator to anyone who has to use one at their job everyday. The numbers on the tape are larger and clear enough that I can even read them without my glasses. The lit numbers are also much brighter and the speed twice as fast. Overall an extremely well made machine. .
I purchased calculator in March 2015. It worked okay until a month ago when the print paper jammed in the roller mechanism. I tried to remove the paper but it was jammed so tightly that even pressing the paper feed key wouldn’t dislodge it. There are no troubleshooting instructions for this problem in the owners manual.I called Victor. The Victor rep asked where I had purchased the calculator. I said that I bought on Amazon and I lived in Hawaii. The rep said that Victor products are not covered by warranty in the USA and that I should take the calculator to a repair shop because this problem is tricky to fix. Thanks a lot.I hope I can return it. .
I love this calculator. I had a Victor for 25 years and it just recently went crazy on me .It ran like a charm and was always accurate. I felt so bad to give it up .but I bought another one and it is just as great In fact with the modern updates, easier to use and see numbers .HIGHLY recommend this machine. ( I wrapped up my old Victor and put it in the attic) .
Somewhat disappointed with the quality. The + key gets stuck and I really have to hit the 1 and 0 keys harder in order for it to recognize these digits. Much more reliable than the 2 Sharp calculators (didn’t last six months) I had before this one. I was spoiled by my 40 year old Royal calculator – the only thing wrong with it was that the tape wouldn’t advance anymore. .

I first discovered these machines over 20 years ago, and I buy one at every job I go to. They’re solar, take up very little space, but function like an adding machine, not a calculator. Perfect size for those of used to the layout of the old Monroes! .
I am an accountant and I do not like the old-school tape adding machines. This has perfectly sized buttons and does not need to be plugged in. I thought it was too expensive but was willing to pay a premium for it. Not sure why I couldn’t find it in any office supply stores. .
This is the best 10 key calculator without the paper tape. It’s easy to use, keys are perfect sized and have a comfortable feel. Easy to see the numbers – not too big, not too small. Battery lasts forever since it also runs on solar. Kickstand in the back allows it to sit up nicely. I had one that died after around 15 years and I was worried it didn’t exist anymore. It was a pleasant surprise to see that it still exists and I can see why. CPAs can’t live without it! .
Great desktop calculator for a desk environment where you don’t need tape. Also lighter and very portable to take with you. Highly recommended! .

I’ve been a CPA for over 40 years. I’ve used all kinds of adding machines from all different manufacturers. I’ve been searching for years for a machine like this one, but they never existed; until now. What I like about this model is that the keyboard is functional and easy to use, without a bunch of markup and markdown features I’d never use. I can easily enter numbers without looking because the layout is the same as on standard adding machines. This is an adding machine, not really a calculator. I love the blue display and I have no problems reading the tape. I can easily go up and down to review my calculations and make any necessary corrections. Some complain about having to use a pen to push the reset button but I say, c’mon, how lazy can you be? You just push it with the tip of a pen or pencil and the machine is erased. The footprint is smaller than most tape type adding machines, which is a big plus when you have 3 monitors in front of you. The only negative I have is that the power cable could be longer, but it suits my needs fine. I’m such a nerd that I am actually looking forward to using this machine every day now! .
I ordered this to replace my 10 year old Canon printing calculator that was getting problematic as it didn’t always register numbers correctly and I got a lot of errors. I never really used the printing function exception very occasionally, but this non-printing calculator was a great find—I hadn’t known it existed before. I’ve found the digital print screen to be quite useful and you can always see what you’ve just typed in, which is nice for double checking. I leave the little screen tilted up so I can see the numbers in a running list to confirm, which I really like a lot. There’s an easy 3-step process to delete all the numbers on the screen when desired, which I always do when I’m done and about to shut it off. I recommend learning this process (not printed in the manual, unfortunately). Otherwise, it keeps in memory a running list up to 300 entries. The calculator has a slightly smaller footprint than my old Canon model, it weighs a lot less, and it’s nice to get rid of the bulky paper roll holder and its weight hanging behind the calculator like with my old one, it turns on instantly (my old Canon took ages to start up), and the keys are easy and comfortable to push. There are a lot of great calculating functions if you bother to learn them all. It seems that Sharp is the only company with a “printing” screen like this. Great invention and very useful for most of us. I’m totally satisfied with this calculator, and would definitely buy it again despite the rather high price. To delete numbers from the screen: Press the “down arrow” button at the top right, then the button that says “2nd” in the top left area, then press the DELETE button (has delete all written above it). Weird series of actions, I can’t imagine why Sharp didn’t make it a one-step process that made sense! .
Being the kind of digital guy I like to think I am… I love new and innovative things and this calculator has the potential to be just that as it is quite efficient in doing one’s calculations as well being much better for the environment and moving us an moving in to a digital age. However, the most simplistic function of a calculator which I would think would be pressing the C/CE button to clear calculations from a calculator and start new calculations on something, a different project, set of data entry, whatever on this paticular calculator you must press the RESET button with the tip of a pen, which clears all data and history as well as information programed into the calculator, IE: tax rate completely out which will then need to be reprogrammed. This calculator has very useful programable and “one button” functions that are time saving but there is a two page instruction leaflet and half is in Spanish explaining how to effectively use them unless you use trial and error until you figure it out.I have looked to other sources for instructions… YouTube, more in-depth instructions online, but there is nothing to be found on the Internet at all.Apparently, from what I got out of the limited instructions is all calculations stay on the calculator until the number of calculations exceeds 300 lines and then they are bumped off one by one.Again it would be a very good calculator to use if there was another way to clear it without using a ball point pen to press the recessed button. As myself, there are others wondering how to achieve such a simple task as they have asked in questions area not to be met with any real solution.Update no help from the seller who referred me back to the instructions that I already had.My question was answered through the general community and now I have it down. Thank you so much.I’m raising my rating to reflect… Again, the ingenuity of this calculator is a very very good idea. But when the instructions from Sharp, the company that makes the calculator, don’t indicate how to do such a simple task, that isn’t the fault of the seller who sold it to me Who, by the way, reached out to me this morning even though it was no help.I’m happy with my purchase and the calculator now. .
