Doesn’t send text messages, but you can write such words as ‘BOOBS’, ‘BOOBIES’, ‘BOOBLESS’, ‘BEES’, and ‘SHOE’. So if you’re a man of few words and your friend is right next to you, it’s basically the same as iMessage.rnrnKnocked off a star because the screen seems to lack some contrast. Not sure if it’s permanent or the battery is low. Can’t recharge the battery, so I don’t know. . Got pushed down in the hallway and called a nerd. They were right. I love this watch. . this is literally the best watch. ever. no debate there. i’ve worn it every single day since i bought it 10 months ago and it still brings me immense joy whenever i look down at it. the functions are relatively easy to use and it’s durable and secure. i adore this watch and get a LOT of compliments about it, because, y’know, calculator watches are literally the best thing to ever be created by mankind, if not the only good thing. i absolutely recommend this glorious watch. it has gotten me through dark times and helps me calculate tax in even the most difficult situations. also, it’s really fun to make it say “8008135” and then show it to my friends and family. you would think that would get old after 10 months straight but it’s still hilarious and nobody can tell me otherwise. if you want a high-quality, affordable, and surprisingly entertaining timepiece, my professional opinion is BUY THIS WATCH. you will NOT regret it. . What a cool piece. I’m 33, so I’m just old enough to remember this watch being the coolest thing in the mid 80s, then progress to something only nerds and dorks would wear, then fade into obscurity. But since it’s now 2017 and it’s cool to be a geek again, this is now so nerdy it’s awesome. I put it on a cool NATO style strap, and this watch gets as many compliments and is as fun to wear as my nice, conventional watches. Top Reviews I have worn an original Casio calculator watch for something like 15 years. It’s light, and slim and super water proof. Plus you can write HELLBOOB (which is the most awesome thing you can write with upsidown numbers. It’s a fact. Trust an expert.) on the calculator function. So these new colors are all the way up my alley. My only complaint is they are NOT waterproof anymore. The back is just screwed on. But it’s cool. It’s cheap. And HELLBOOB lives. . To avoid confusion, I use aftermarket silicone bands from Ritche, purely for the aesthetic and not because there was a problem with the ones included on the watch.rnrnI’ve worn these style of Casio calculator watches for most of my life, and despite some shortcomings that I will detail below, I really do love them.rnrnThe first thing to wear out is usually the bands, especially if you bring your watch into the shower. My bands typically last about a year, give or take a few months. I do bring mine into the shower, loosening the bands to clean my wrists, and I believe the hot water and soaps cause the plastic bands to become hard and brittle over time. I’m going to continue doing it, because I suck at time management and an easily replaceable timepiece is invaluable to me. Some people replace the whole watch after the bands break, since they’re so affordable. My grandfather would stick the old watch bodies in places with glue, Velcro, or adhesive pads. Handy to have a tiny calculator clock in all of your working spaces.rnrnIf you replace your bands, here’s some information. These use standard 20mm pins and straps, though there is a bit of a protective lip overhanging each of the pins. Those lips may block thicker bands from fitting, so maybe reconsider if you plan to use a thick leather or metal band for some reason. The Ritche bands that I use have quick release pins for easy installation and removal, but it was actually quite a squeeze to get them in despite that. I imagine over time the protective lips will dig a permanent impression into the silicone, if the silicone doesn’t just rot from the abuse I put it through.rnrnThese are water resistant, and I don’t recall ever having an issue with water damage from taking it in the shower. My last one did stop responding to button presses unless I took the back plate off, which somehow was causing the C button (mode switch button) to stay permanently depressed. Never figured out the cause, but perhaps water damage, or perhaps the return spring was just gunked up with something that was dragging against the backplate.rnrnThey are not waterproof, resistant is the key phrase. My grandfather had one glued to his outdoor grill, and that one filled with condensation after a few years. I may be misremembering, but I thought these used to have a label marking them as water resistant up to a depth of 12 feet, but now they just say water resistant. My interpretation of that is you’re not meant to swim with it, but can still take it in the shower with no real risk of damage. I did swim with my first one that I believe had that label, and I don’t remember any issue arising from it.rnrnOn to the features, of which there are a lot for such an affordable watch.rnrnRight up front, these do not have any form of backlight. If you need to read it in the dark, then bring a light. While this dramatically extends battery life, I still consider it the most dramatic shortcoming of the family of Casio calculator watches that includes the Model 437, 438, and 3208.rnrnThe clock can be set to a 12 or 24 hour display, and also features a basic calendar. The day of the week is always displayed above the seconds counter, and the full date in Year-Month-Day configuration can be displayed by holding the ÷ button. Notably, the year counter is 2-digits; at the time of writing, the year is 20 for 2020, and next year it will display 21. Not only am I bad at time management, I can never remember the current date, so this is also invaluable to me. There’s no fancy features with the calendar, no appointment reminders or anything to assign to a specific date, but still a much appreciated addition.rnrnI also use the calculator frequently in daily life. It’s got most of the features you would expect from a very basic calculator, but definitely isn’t a replacement for something more advanced like a scientific or graphing calculator. Notably, there are no memory buttons to save a numb
er for later, so you must use your own memory or make a note of any important numbers. Constant calculations are done by double pressing your function command, i.e. 8÷÷4. You will know you’ve set your number to a constant because a K will appear above your number around the top left of the display. To square a number, you double press X and look for the same K, then press =, i.e 3×× =9, then you can hit = again to go up another power, from 3² to 3³ and so on. Not necessarily the most intuitive, but I figured it out as a kid without reading the instructionsrnrnThe calculator face is 8 digits, or 7 when dealing with negatives. Decimals are supported.rnrnThe alarm works fine, not much to say about it, loud enough to hear but not too loud. As soon as you get the watch, you can test the alarm sound by holding 0 and + while on the alarm screen. I started silencing my alarm in my sleep, so I only use it for reminders and not for waking up. You can enable and disable your alarm by pressing the 4 button when you’re on the main clock screen or on the alarm screen. You only get one alarm, so you can’t have a bunch all set up to go off at different times at different days. You can enable in the Clock screen or in the alarm screen a single beep to go off once every hour on the hour by hitting the × button. The single hourly beeps that Signal mode provides are not particularly disruptive, but can be helpful for keeping track of time, and that’s the closest you get to having individual programmable alarms for reminders.rnrnThe Dual Time mode is a nifty feature, allowing you to keep track of a separate time somewhere else on the globe. The minutes must be configured manually, as not all timezones are running on the same minute, but the seconds counter is automatically copied from the time you’ve assigned to the main clock, and can only be changed from the main clock. The DT clock uses the same time format as your main one, so you can’t set one to 12h and one to 24h.rnrnThe stop watch may have more features than you’d expect. I personally don’t use it often, but the manual for the model 3208 is on Casio’s website and will tell you everything you need to know. Notably though , the stop watch is limited to 23h, 59m, 59.99s. A second note, a single beep occurs every 10 minutes that the stop watch is running.rnrnOne often overlooked feature that I feel I must bring up is the battery saver, which disables the beep which normally happens with ever key press. I enabled it because I don’t like making a lot of noise; not to say the beep is loud, but it is a noise. You enable battery saver by going to your calculator screen and hitting the B button, which is the recessed button underneath the mode switching C button. This doesn’t disable other sounds, like the alarm, hourly signal, or any sounds from the stop watch.rnrnThat’s my review of the features, now a few additional notes.rnrnAside from the color options, there seems to be one major difference with these models over the more classic pure black model, and that difference is the display. I can see why many of the reviews complain that the display on this specific model is hard to read, though I don’t have much trouble with it after getting used to it. Unlike older models, this display is inverted; the background is black and the characters are the kind of greenish-grey that would normally be in the background. Aesthetically, this change is interesting, but I find it slightly harder to reach under harsh glare, and observe no difference in legibility in average or low light environments. As stated in the beginning, there is no backlight, so none of these style calculator watches are good for low light. I am curious how this inverted color display effects battery life, as I was under the impression that in these kinds of displays the black portion required power and the grey-green section was unpowered. Perhaps I’ve got that backwards, or perhaps power is only required in the operation of shifting between light and dark.rnrnCasio does have other models of calculator watches that have backlights, but they’re more expensive and may not be as ruggedly designed to survive abuse; I’ve never owned one, so no comment.rnrnI’ve known people to struggle with the buttons on the face of the watch, as they are very small and give no real tactile feedback. Just little rubber membrane nubs pushing through a plastic grate basically, with no room in the watch to fit some kind of clicky mechanism. I’ve gotten used to the tiny rubber Chiclet keys, even with the button-press sound disabled. I find it works best for me to think of it as pressing the buttons with the bone of your fingertip, and not think about all the flesh around it. The keys are stiff enough that your skin will usually just squish around the buttons you’re not trying to press, and only the one in the middle where your finger bone is gets pressed. I will say, that strategy may not work if you have heavy calluses on your fingers, in which case you can use your fingernails. Haven’t found fingernails to do much damage to the rubber keys, just the occasional scrape but no deep cuts; think the rubber is flexible enough to fold inside the watch face before you put enough pressure on to actually cut it with your fingernails.rnrnThe B button is recessed, as I mentioned before. I don’t find it too hard to press with even a well trimmed thumbnail, but some seem to struggle with that one too.rnrnThe display is under a somewhat thick layer of plastic, not glass. It’s a little bit hard, but can definitely still scratch. I wear my watch on the inside of my wrist, and because of that I think I haven’t bumped the watch face into things that often, so no deep scratches and just a few light ones that really only get picked up by camera flash.rnrnI’ve been wearing my new one for only about a month and a half, but it’s similar enough to the ones I’m used to that I feel confident in giving such a detailed review.rnrnIf you’re the kind of person who made it all the way to the end of my ridiculously long review for a budget-oriented watch, then you may be the kind of person who would enjoy wearing this watch. If the color is unimportant though, I may recommend the more standard black model without the inverted color display, just because this one is at the very least slightly more difficult to read sometimes. . I love this watch I use it at work all the time, I am required to solve very basic mathematical equations at work and sometimes I don’t want to use my phone’s calculator so I use my watch. Yes you will look super nerdy and old school but who cares Haters gonna Hate. . I love Casio but i gave this watch to my son because the numbers are very difficult to read. I own 5 of the slightly cheaper calculator models that still work fine but they are so inexpensive that when the band breaks, i just buy a new Casio. Just stick with the cheaper/easy to read model. I wanted one as a kid but never had one, then later got a small collection of G-shocks, and multi-sensor Pro-Treks, always buying giant technical ones for their cool styling. I finally ordered this one as a fun every day watch and I love it. It’s super light weight and slim, but the feel is still high in precision.rnrnIt’s got Casio’s classic styling but understated with the reversed display and only has the calculator markings and no face markings and WR. It may cost the same or even less than it did in the 80s, and the navy blue looks great. It’s hard to go wrong for the price, and every function works perfectly with tiny but usable control buttons. The reversed display is difficult to see in low light but always seems visible when angled to the nearest light source. A back-light would be nice, but it’s an excellent classic watch at an unbeatable price. Perfect!rnrnEdit: The description lists the band’s width as 24mm, which is the overall width. The width at the Spring Bars if you are replacing the band is 20mm. . At first, I was a little skeptical as to whether or not this was an authentic Casio. But, upon careful inspection and comparison to its original counterpart, I can confirm this is an authentic Casio calculator watch! Unlike the original, it features a negative display. This could make it difficult to read in dimly lit environments, but it’s still a fun piece nonetheless. All the other features are exactly the same. However, the new blue watch doesn’t have some of the original texts and markings the old one has. (Which is what caused me to be skeptical of this one in the first place.) I was excited to see the white version when it was time to buy a new one (because the bands only last 2-3 years (SEE UPDATE BELOW), and the bands are more expensive than the new watch). However I could not see the white on black display in low light or bright light, making it only usable in medium light.rnrnSo, I opened the watch and inserted the guts of one of my old black-on-white text versions, and now I have a white case and band with a readable face. Very easy to switch out the clock-works. You don’t even need to take the battery out!rnrnSo, it’s a 5 star watch, minus a star for the fun, but ultimately unusable watch display.rnrnSo, if you read this Casio, I love this watch, but would love it more if you could make the band more sturdy. It always ends up cracking right where the clasp is set (I always wear it in the same place).rnrnAlso, I’d love a red version!rnrnUPDATE 7/11/2020:rnI have had new white watch for a little while now. The watch band seems like they’ve improved it over the black band (maybe they’ve made the same change to the black one now, I don’t know). The new band feels more mat (less glossy) and a bit stiffer, and less rubbery. This seems like it will hold up better and hopefully won’t crack as easily. I’m happy to see it seems they have tried to address the problem. I’ll update this review as time goes on. . retro style for sure. lightweight. a handsome off white. trendy and not too expensive. a great watch for teens or thin wristed folk. but for anyone who likes to see with ease this one aint for you. the black face (sorry) is just not visible enough. and no backlight to boot (an unforgivable oversight). even at this price point a back light should be standard. i have given my last several Casios to my son and imagined doing the same with this one if i didnt like it. and to my surprise he didnt want to deal with this incovenient model. the original Back to the Future style is still the best offering given the lighter watch face. all that said, its still a fun watch and if u only wear in bright rooms or outside or use your cell phone in darker areas then go for it. . Top Reviews I’m a huge fan of the Databank series; both because of functionality and aesthetic. I had the CA-53W for awhile, and decided I’d “upgrade”. I put the word upgrade in quotes because although this model has a light and a phone book (which I think is really cool!), it drops water resistance from the previous model. I showered with the old watch everyday, even scuba dived in the Grand Cayman Islands (despite the manual saying you shouldn’t), and it’s perfectly fine to this day, almost a year later. This watch has the look that I like, also a bunch of neat functions, but the loss of water resistance is unfortunate because otherwise I believe it would be perfect.rnrnEDIT: 20170614rnThe individual keys on the pad are a bit harder to push down, surprisingly, than the previous model. They also seem to be a tough sort of plastic, unlike the rubber feel of the CA-53W. It’s accrued a couple of scratches on the screen, but nothing too crazy. About a month ago, I went to look at the time and noticed a bunch of jibberish (random characters) on the screen. However, pushing one of the buttons cleared it and that problem hasn’t happened again since.rnAs I’ve used the phone book more, I’ve come to realize it’s ashame the numbers don’t double as a keyboard, kind of like a phone, or T9.rnAgain, I use this watch everyday, and will continue to do so until a better Databank model is released. (Hopefully with a light and guaranteed water resistance).rnrnEDIT: 20180926rnThe timepiece is still going strong! I haven’t had any “jibberish” issues since the last edit. I shower daily with the watch, even go swimming and go in the steam room/sauna, yet still no problems i.e; all buttons are functional, and light still works. However, I’ve had to replace both bands due to degradation. The one with the clasp gave out months ago, and the other with the holes actually cracked in half (sorry, I never thought to take pictures) recently. Luckily, Casio sells exact identical bands for really cheap. The reinstallation is a little frustrating at first, but once you get the hang of it, all future installs are a breeze. Even with me going diving again (about 5-10 meters), the watch is entirely functional. Because of that, I have to give the watch 5 stars. There’s no reason not to. I do, however, have some additonal notes [read: very small nitpicks] I hope Casio can address in the next iteration:rnrn1. I’ve replaced the band twice in two years. My first replacement was with the aforementioned official Casio resin band, and the second replacement was with an unofficial Casio band. So, I guess I hope they’ll be able to increase the durability of their official band as I much prefer that to the one I currently use.rnrn2. Having to use my finger nails to push the keys in on the keypad, there’s permanent grooves [or indents] on them. No big deal though.rnrnThe jibberish issue I had was truly an anomaly, as I haven’t experienced since then.rnSo yeah, a phenomenal watch for a phenomenal price. The calculator buttons are just pressure sensitive – not individual buttons that depress. This makes them a little hard to push, but it’s not really an issue since I’m probably not going to be doing very much hardcore math problems on the go. My last F91-W lasted 22 years. It was an absolute beast, surviving everything I threw at it. Full submerging, mud caked over it, falling through a ceiling, and reaching to the bottom of a solvent bucket. It “failed” when the stay started breaking. So I bought a new one. In all honestly, it was a close call, but after reviewing the additional complications on the Casio, it was an easy choice. Not only does it provide me with an alarm clock to remind me of getting up in the mornings, but it also has a day date function and a stop watch. Furthermore, I was delighted to see it includes a light function to be able to see it in the dark, which comes very handy when timing shooting stars through the heavens at night. Needless to say, the choice was easy, and with the gold dial I will be using it as a dress watch too, but just for the fancier occasions. Backlight sucks (short burst, not very bright) but I did not buy this watch for that function. It works for keeping time and stopwatch. I almost always have 4-5 things I need to do at a certain time every day. An alarm is always an excellent reminder for those time-crucial activities. I was replacing a rather big & bulky watch which I had gotten used to. This one is pretty slim & sleek, and I think I would prefer larger. It’s just a quick button push to fix it, but really!?!rnrnFinally, since changing from DST to standard time, once or twice a week the watch seems to reset itself to DST and the time is off by an hour. It can’t be from bumping the buttons, since you have to go through a very specific sequence of pressing several different buttons to make this change, and the minutes and date would change before the hour but they have never been incorrect. The downside is that I have to remember to keep the alarms and the database in sync. I searched the Web for a watch that would allow me to do that. I played with many variables when testing, such as walking fast, walking slow, changing stride length, varying the speed of the steps within my sample, etc. I found none of these things really mattered when it comes to accuracy. What really matters, and significantly, is where you place this device. Here are my results: (1) In my pocket, accuracy was terrible. It could be off as much as 30%. (2) Clipped at various locations on my belt, or on the neckline of my shirt, results were quite good – inaccuracy was between 2-4%. However, when I placed the device on a lanyard around my neck, the results have been great – inaccuracy of less the 0.5%. That is extraordinary for what I understand is a one mechanical pendulum device. This morning I recorded five separate 400 step samples and took the step readings after each. Here were the readings: 402, 402, 401, 402, 400. In all 30+ tests I have run this week, the inaccuracy is always on the high side. In conclusion, if placed in a proper location, this is a very accurate and valuable tool for keeping track of your steps, miles, time duration, speed, and calories burned. It’s cool and I hope I keep putting it to good use. . So a few weeks before buying this, I bought a FitBit One. I found it a ridiculously complicated piece of equipment, and sent it back the same day. I originally bought the Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer in 2010, but never used it. It was hard to see. But a few months ago, I gave it to my husband who has worn it non-stop. This made me want one again! I didn’t have the heart to ask him for it back as he loves it so much.rnrnI did a lot of research and just couldn’t find what I wanted. (for my son).rnHis $6 dollar watch we bough on sale at Target had a fabric mesh band where the holes had worn out rnReplacing that band even on Amazon was a $10 affair so we saw this watch and for $13 we gave it a shot.rnrnThe quality is superb and the finish is on par as a good Casio G-Shock. The movement is Japanese andrnthe analog watch is separate from the digital, so it works as dual time if you want. The light feature is neat.rnIt sets the displays on negative and the glow light shines through the digits which makes them VERY clear.rnrnIt is BIG ! a good 2″ Ø overall. It’s just plain awesome.rnrnNow my other son wants one and he has a Casio G-Shock!. . This has the feel of something you would get out of a gumball machine. the buttons kind of stick and then feel released once pushed. The timer, you can’t set the seconds. And the worst part about this watch, and the reason why I’m returning it, is because the alarm is useless. When I first set the alarm I thought it was broken because I heard NOTHING. I saw the alarm indicator flashing showing that it was going off but heard nothing. So I went on here to see if anyone said anything about the alarm and sure enough I saw that is super quiet. So I set the alarm again but this time turned off my fan so its super quiet. Still heard nothing. Then I held it up to my ear, only then could I hear it. You have to hold this watch within 5 inches to your ear to hear the alarm and I’m not hard of hearing! It was easy to read in the water as the bright yellow hands and digits really lit up in the sunlight.rnI have had more expensive watches that I couldn’t read in the water. Granted I was not all that deep but it was constantly submerged on several snorkeling occasions. Packaging is a plastic bag/bubble wrap w/ basic instructions. Even if it died after the trip I would have been satisfied due to the valued price. However it is still ticking away at home just like new. Make sure you don’t press any buttons under the water as they say and you’ll be fine. . Keeps accurate time and is fairly rugged. This is my third puschase of this watch. I tried replacing the battery but is not worth the effort and a new battery is about $8.00. So when the battery dies, I simply replace the watch. One thing I dont like is the watch is running and using battery power when it is received. You never know how long it’s been sitting on a shelf burning up power. Would be much better if it came turned off so the battery would be fresh. I think pulling out the stem before packaging would do the trick. All in all a good product at a good price. Read more

Good light. I like that it has countdown timer and lots of alarms. I miss being able to see the time when it’s in stopwatch mode like I can with the W-800HAV and the WV-200A.rnrnCasio WV-200A ($40-ish) Waceceptor Digital Black with chrome and red. Looks good. Like the steel case. Good protection for the glass. Relatively heavy. A liiiiitle too thick. Really nice buttons. Great electro-luminescent light. This one is the only watch of the group that you can set it so it doesn’t beep every time you push a button. I really like being able to turn the beep off. Sometimes I like to set a stopwatch in a meeting so I can see how long somebody is going on with some bullsh*t. Strangely, timing somebody’s bullsh*t is a nice distraction from the bullsh*t. But I don’t like my watch to beep when I’m doing pushing buttons. “Dual display”- you can still see what time it is when you’re in other modes. Countdown timer is nice and many of my other watches don’t have one. I don’t give it extra points for the whole Wave Ceptor thing. Doesn’t add any value for me and it kinda sucks battery. This watch has been on my wrist for a full day of snorkelling and handled it beautifully. I live in a land-locked state, so when I get to the ocean, I’m in the water ALL DAY LONG. I can’t dive deeper than maybe 20 feet, so it’s not a serious test for a watch that says it’s good to 200m. But if you’re diving to 200m and time is critical, you’re going to spring for something more than a $40 Casio. (I love you, Casio).rnrnCasio HDA-600 ($14.79) Black Analog. Not the most comfortable. Kinda squeezes my wrist from bone to bone or flops around a bit. I dunno, it just fits weird. YMMV. Love the face protector. Can’t wait until it starts to look a little banged up. Incredibly light. Truly forget that you’re wearing it. Easy to read. No date window. No lumi. Nice, simple and never catches your sleeve in a dress shirt. Yes, I’m fancy. Some people are smart enough to read an analog watch that doesn’t have numbers on it- just dots. I’m not one of those people. I screw it up enough when there’s numbers. This has numbers. No countdown timer. The metal band is not comfortable. It’s got edges and it pulls on my arm fur. Clasp works great and it’s wicked-easy to adjust. Slips under a dress shirt easily. I have a Seiko watch which was about $300, so this watch feels so much lighter, but you get used to it. This Casio you will set without a book. . needed a non-bulky men’s watch because women’s watches always tend to be thin, weak, analog, and impossible to read. the casio illuminator has a really low profile design and comes in a nice, subtle shade of black. it was really easy to set up the date/time and it has stopwatch and alarm features which might come in handy. the band holes go all the way around so it fits on my tiny wrist (i usually have to poke more holes). its fully water resistant too so i can tell the time in the shower / pool / beach and take it to places my phone cant. really happy with this purchase! good choice for ladies who prefer functionality over fashion 🙂 . I’m in law enforcement and this watch is owned by many other officers that I work with. It gives you the time, date and day clearly. Light is bright enough where the display is clearly visible. It’s comfortable and has lasted daily all day use. Been in many struggles and hasn’t been torn off like I’ve had with expensive watches. It’s so light you forget it’s on your wrist, unlike a Seiko monster I once owned that I could not wait to take off. After you have forgotten it’s on your wrist, no reason to baby it. It’s water resistant and will survive getting knocked around just fine.rnrnUnlike our smart watches of today, battery life is measured in years, not hours. I can’t believe I didn’t get one sooner and I can’t believe people by watches that won’t run more than 18 – 24 hours without a power source to charge the battery. That’s not progress, that’s regress. Now we have to keep it plugged in just so it will actually work. If we unplug it from the charger, it stops working. Not a great product for $35. Poorly made. I’m returning it. . So today is my daughters birthday and the watch is garbage out of the box. Keeps flashing and asking me to perform tests, tests keep failing and then it asks me to submit the failed report. If you need a device that connects to your phone and does things that the large screen already in your pocket does, this isn’t for you. . I have been buying Casio watches for thirty years and I like them. I had one for twelve years, but gave it up because it was so old it was hard to find replacement batteries. This watch is great except that the band always breaks where you buckle it. The average is a year to a year and a half on the flimsy resin band. I couldn’t find the exact band on Amazon, so I just bought another $12 watch, thinking the battery would go soon. I have found that after a few battery changes these watches lose their water resistance and cloud up. The latest replacement had a tag on the box that said “Ten Year Battery.” That would be great if it came with six extra bands. I didn’t want to experiment with bands that cost four dollars less than the watch. I was able to use a zip-tie to fix the band while waiting for my Prime shipped replacement. My old watch should work for another eight years in my top drawer. It is still much better watch than a Timex, and the zip-tie got a lot of laughs.rnUpdate: second watch and band split in 17 months, but it has a ten year battery! . After paying $400 for an apple watch I realized this Casio is a much smarter watch. Shows the date and time, illuminates the whole screen, has a choro and an alarm. That is all you will ever need from a watch. Yeah i would like to have the solar battery and atomic time sync functions like everybody else but is it worth paying another $100 bucks? I don’t think so. Slap this on your wrist and you are good to go. . Many people don’t wear watches anymore because they use their phones, but you still can’t beat a watch for convenience. This would be a good choice for people who simply want that convenience. Just glance down at your wrist, and there is the date, day and time in large readable characters.rnrnThe watch comes with an alarm, stopwatch and second timezone feature, none of which I consider all that useful. Still, that’s a pretty minimal feature set, and minimal is GOOD; the fewer bells and whistles, the less complicated a watch is to use. The 100m water resistance is also a huge plus in the convenience department; that’s the minimum water resistance it’s actually safe to swim with (ratings are based on completely still water). Add to that the fact that it’s accurate enough you only really have to reset it when daylight savings comes in and out, and you can just put this on your wrist and forget it.rnrnThe electroluminescent display backlight is adequate — certainly better than the Casios from the early 90s, but not quite as uniform as Timex’s Indiglo feature. Also automatic backlighting would have been nice, but is not to be expected at a $13 price point.rnrnThe low price also means you get a resin (marketer-speak for “plastic”) strap, but I actually think resin works better than the more expensive silicone for something this light. Silicone can get uncomfortable when you’re sweaty. If you have a thing against plastic you can replace the band with any 18mm width after market strap. In the image I’ve attached, I’ve paired this watch with a “Goldfinger” style nylon NATO strap — yes, that’s a $40 band on a $13 watch, although you can get cheaper versions here on Amazon for under $10. The point isn’t how much the band costs relative to the watch, it’s how much you enjoy it.rnrnAnd this is a watch you actually can enjoy for its aesthetics. Square is a good shape for a digital watch, and the size delivers plenty of legibility without getting in the way of sleeves or catching on things. It’s not easy to see in the Amazon image, but the watch also has subtle hints of color — blue outlining around the crystal and a little red lettering. The main bummer to me is that it doesn’t tell you the day of the week like most Timex Ironman watches do. Instead it has the month on the display. I would think people are more often wanting to double check the day of the week than they are the month. Another bummer is the timer feature, which I use frequently. The timer options are 1 min, 3 mins, 5 mins, 10 mins, 15 mins, 20 mins, 25 mins, 30 mins, 45 mins, and 1 hour. I would prefer to be able to set my watch for whatever time I need. Also, I have a bit of a hard time reading the time when usung indiglo at night. I have to tilt the watch at the correct angle to make out the time. . In theory this should be a nice watch. I believe mine was defective? I returned this watch and purchased one at Walmart ~2014. The battery runs down fast. The back light stopped working in less than a month. The digital display is interrupted by some internal defect or error code. It is/was water proof. I bought this one to replace a watch that was not water proof. So happy with the color and the fact that it was water proof, I kept it. Not sure if it is still waterproof after taking the cover off to replace the battery so many times. Past the return window, and warranty period. Additionally, the band is rubber and is durable for immediate use. I stopped using mine and had it in storage for about 4 years. Took it back out, had to replace the battery, that I already had replaced; a cheaper watch was still working purchased near the same time (???). It is my suggestion not to purchase this watch. Timex nice try. It is a beautiful watch, my favorite color. I paid $30 for my watch so will expend the price for a replacement band soon. I also bought batteries because the battery will run down. It is possible the batter was just not strong enough. New time test with new batteries 2018. This watch is great for teaching you how to buy batteries, change batteries, etc. for a jeweler you might have enjoyed the purchase. For me, ok, but drag. Timex is a respectable brand. I may try Timex again, but probably not for a watch with a metal band. Keep your warranty. . This is the third one of these watches I have owned. I love all the functions, especially the timer and the date. There is also a stopwatch, alarm and pulse. Whenever I’m not wearing it, I look at my empty wrist multiple times per hour. I marked it down one star because the bands tend to break after a while. The last one I had, once the band broke I replaced it twice (11 mm watch band) then wore it until the battery wore down. I was unable to replace the battery on my own, so I took it to a jeweler, who replaced the battery but this messed up the waterproofing a little. So I finally got a new one. It takes a few times to get used to setting
it, but then it’s pretty easy. I like that you can set the tens and ones separately instead of having to change one minute at a time. The light is handy at night, but use sparingly as it runs down the battery. I have a very small wrist and there are enough holes in the band to fit me, but it would also work for someone with a larger wrist. . This had been my go-to watch. When I wore one out due to using the timer, alarms, and pulse monitor multiple times a day, I would reorder. Never again. This replacement watch seemed cheap from the first time I set it. The start/stop button produced an audible click when I pressed it (did not happen with previous replacements). After twelve days the indiglo function quit (the previous replacement lost indiglo after six months). On the thirteenth day of wearing the watch, the band broke straight across, an inch from the clasp, while I was removing the watch from my wrist. Read more

I usually get three of four years out of these watches before I break the strap or smash the face and I replace it. I have never had one stop working or have its battery die. I miss the even cheaper version of this watch that didn’t have a back light but at ten dollars and change who can complain. . I bought this watch for me to know the time. I used to watch the time from my phone but that doesnt work for me because smartphones are not made especially for telling time. Everytime i watch the time from my smartphone it takes me minutes as I go to chat, games, facebook, twitter and so on.rnI decide to leave my smartphone away any buy a normal watch to know the time. Finally I bought casio from amazon because it does not fancy and has no distractions. I have used it for a month and I realy like it. Somewhat small but it fit my hand because I dont have a big arm so consider this if you want to buy this watch. It tells the time very accuratly and never go wrong. This is the best Casio calculator watch that I have owned. I purchased my first about 30 years ago. This one has the most comfortable wrist-band; the largest most easily read digits; and the entry keys are easier to press.rnrnThe negatives are: there is no countdown timer, and the entry of alpha characters into memory is more complicated than past Casio calculator watches. I’m guessing it is a knock-off though, because the buckle is slightly curved and does not lie flat against the strap, which IS flat. There’s no design justification for the curve. The middle of the buckle is higher, somewhat like a shoehorn would rest face-down on a flat surface. Original bands all had flat buckles. This has not caught on anything though, so it has not impacted my satisfaction with the band. I am very happy with it, and the price was right (I am frugal – OK, kind-of a tightwad). The material is a firm rubbery plastic, and feels great on my wrist. It is tough, and feels durable. If I need another band, I will come back here, for sure. I am just sad that Casio stopped making these watches. Technology put the time and telememo features on smart-phones, but I love having this watch and the calculator, stopwatch and appointment reminder features right here, handy, strapped to my wrist. . Replaced the band from my Casio DBC32-1A watch with this after the original one broke. It’s actually a little different looking than the original one from my watch; the resin is more obvious/speckled, and the end of the band is more raised (and thus stays within the buckle better). That indicated to me they were not interested in hearing my complaint. . I hesitated but I ordered 3 packages of the Duracell 3 Pac 303/ 357 coin batteries. The one package appeared to have been a return though it hadn’t been opened.rnThe other 2 -3 packs were allot cleaner looking. I looked everywhere for an experation date. There was nothing.rnI contacted Duracell. I was told that not all the batteries depending on the type of battery have an experation date. He said if there is no experation date then look on the back of the packaging card. He said find the copyright date and that will tell you when the batteries were made. The 3 packages I received today are dated 2016. So they are over 3yrs old could already be 4yrs old. The gentleman at Duracell said that the shelf life of these batteries are 3yrs. With that being said I received expired batteries.rnrnI just dropped them off at the local UPS store. I won’t be buying anymore batteries off Amazon at least anytime soon. . I gave it only three stars because they did not say they were too big for HP calculators. It was too much trouble to send them back. Maybe someone in the family can use them for something else the price was really low.rnAs of HP calculators: the aftermarket batteries are problematic. Hearing aid batteries only last a week. The prescribed batteries cost $10 each with no idea as to how long they last. The batteries that came with the unit lasted for years. My Answer to the problem? Five clearly labeled buttons makes changing display modes, operating, and setting easy which is important for my 70 yr old non-tech wife. . I bought this in an effort to combine my step counter and watch into one without having to charge it all the time, or having to be attached to my phone for apps. So far this has met all my expectations in this. My old watch was a Timex Ironman that was a few years old. In comparing the two, the band on my Casio seems stiffer, and the clasp is plastic instead of metal. I’m curious to see how well it holds up, because my Timex band was looking quite rough and had torn several times.rnrnWhat I do miss from the Timex that I haven’t either figured out how to set yet, or this watch is missing is interval timing/alarms. I do most of my HIIT from a book and not an app, so I used to rely on my watch to call out start times for me. For now I am just trying to adapt to having my increments be the same time and using the timer feature, but that’s a feature I definitely miss but good news if you don’t need that because that’s seriously the only thing I find lacking.rnrnOverall I am impressed, and am hoping that by the time this watch dies that step counting will be standard on all athletic watches. . I hate wearing watches. Yet, I like to know what time it is but I hate carrying my phone. I also wanted to start keeping track of how many steps I take each day. (in a nutshell, you insert a small lever into the hole the arrow is pointing towards on the buckle, pry it open, adjust the buckle to where you want it, then snap it back shut)rnrnSince this watch is basically the  Casio F91W-1 Classic Resin Strap Digital Sport Watch  with a metal casing, the watch’s backlight is just an LED and doesn’t illuminate the whole watch face evenly like newer watches with the electroluminescent backlight. The light also only stays on while the button is pressed, so it’s not like watches with the electroluminescent backlight where you can press the button once and the watch face stays lit for a few seconds. The watch face is still perfectly legible in the dark though when the light button is pressed.rnrnThe watch displays the day (monday-sunday) and the number date, but it doesn’t display the month. However, it does ask you for the month when you first set the date, so you won’t have to change the number date at the end of each month. The watch also gives you the option to easily switch between normal and military (24 hour) time at the push of a single button.rnrnIt’s also important to note that the stopwatch feature only goes up to 59:59:99, (just short of an hour) and then the stopwatch will loop back to 0. However, I really never use the stopwatch feature, so this doesn’t really bother me. The stopwatch can record two times, but can’t save them. For example, if you start the stop watch and press the lap button, the stopwatch will freeze and show you the time. The stopwatch is still going in the background though, and if you press the button that starts the stopwatch again while it is displaying the first lap time, it will display the second lap time, but then you will not be able to view the first lap time again. If you press the lap button again, it will display the current time that was running in the background. I believe this is a pretty typical stopwatch, but I’m not sure because like I said, I really never use stopwatches.rnrnThe alarm is reasonably loud, and lasts 20 seconds or until the light button is pressed. I use this as an alarm clock to wake me up in the morning and to wake me up from naps. The watch also gives you the option of having it beep every hour which I use sometimes if I need to be conscious of the time while I’m doing something that is demanding my full attention.rnrnThe watch is water resistant, and for everyday wear, it is perfectly fine. The instructions say that not to press any buttons if it’s under water though, I assume doing so would let water into the device. I wouldn’t wear it swimming, but I started wearing this watch all the time and it is fine in the shower and for brief submersion in water.rnrnOverall, it’s a very clean, simple, watch that is a good value and should be very reliable and last a long time. It’s not 100% perfect, but for the price, I have to give it 5 stars. . In LOVE. I have an apple watch and while I love it, sometimes I just want to be “disconnected”. I spent so long looking for a watch that would be affordable and functional yet not look cheap. This watch is amazing. It’s comofrtable and looks chic either dressed up or dressed down. All six of the batteries fell into the red (replace) level and by quite a bit. I then went to Lowe’s and purchased another pack of the Energizer 357/303 batteries. Again, their charges were in the replace zone of the tester. I think that Energizer has stopped making these, at least in large quantities, and that the batteries you buy in the store were stored a long time.rnrnI’m looking for a newer alternative to the 357’s for my old calculator. If I find one, I’ll revise this review. But, in the meantime, don’t waste your money on these batteries. . Just received my 3 new energizer 357 batteries yesterday. Tested them on my ZRS pulse tester and 2 were only 80% full on opening, 1 was 100% full. This is not satisfactory for new purchase. . e So I’m not sure what is going on but when I tried to use these batteries my device said the batteries were low so I think they might be counterfeits or a bad batch. . These are long life but low current batteries. I was looking for batteries for my 40+ year old HP-11C calculator. There are lots of compatible batteries that would fit and work in the 11C, but the sliver oxide 357s can last up to 10 years in this calculator. The record is 20+ years. These may not test well on cheep battery tester. A cheep battery tester may put to high of a load on the battery causing it to test low. When my batteries came in I tested on a ZTS MBT-1 battery tester and all 3 tested at 100%. Another plus is the 3 pack, the calculator uses 3 batteries. Read more

You can see it is off slightly to the left. I decided it might be a fluke and processed an exchange through Amazon. I received the replacement unit, set it, and checked the alignment .and this one wasn’t off to the left .it was off by the same amount to the RIGHT! Sadly I am now going to have to return this as well. I am disappointed in the quality control Timex or whoever they use (box says “Made for TMX”) have at their factories.rnrnIf you can overlook seeing the misaligned hand every time you look at this watch, then it will be great for you If not, keep looking. . Loved this watch for the 2 months that it lasted. I work in an office all day and certainly did no activity that would warrant the middle crown coming off without me noticing during the day. Now hands are frozen and the watch is dead in the water. Was expecting more from Timex name. This may be a one-off, but I won’t be giving the brand another chance. . I like the watch very much, especially for the price. It’s also very accurate, keeping time to +/- 10 seconds over a 6 week period. I was confused by Timex’s description that the watch is “water resistant” to 330 feet so I called them. What “water resistance” means, in this case, is that as long as you don’t push any of the buttons while underwater, water won’t get in. So don’t push the buttons while underwater. I’ve worn the watch in the shower and swimming pool and have had no problems. But I didn’t push the buttons.rnThe one thing that didn’t suit my personal taste was the thin leather band; First, aesthetically I felt the proportion seemed fragile on what is a relatively large watch and secondly, it isn’t waterproof. So I changed the band for a more substantial, waterproof dive watch band, as shown in the included picture.rnAlso, for an additional $5 Timex will extend your warranty to 5 years, which I did.rnGiven the cost, accuracy, warranty, and ruggedness of this watch, I feel it’s a steal. It’s also nice to be able to support an American company with the purchase of a product NOT made in China. . This is an excellent watch. I owns a number of high-end watches and I just couldn’t believe how well-built this “Timex” watch is comparison to my other high-end watches, i.e. Rolex and Omega. All at a price that I wouldn’t even worry if I were to lose this watch.rnrnNow for those who are complaining that the second chronograph hand not aligning up to the 12 hour mark. This is an easy fix. 1) Pull the crown to the position to set the time. 2) Use chronograph buttons (Top) to adjust or move the second hand into the position that you want to be in (in this case at 12 hour mark point) 3) The continual press of the button will move clockwise one second at a time until the desire position is reached. This is practically, same for all quartz chronograph movement. Hope this helps to alleviate some of the frustration for the second hand not aligning up. Read more

Granted, the device is on all the time, but it is relatively tiny and only needs to display three numbers. The longest use I got out of a cell was ten months. The others lasted six months or less (one only worked for about a month). They were purchased only 2.5 years ago, which is half the expected shelf life, although I don’t know how old they were when I received them. I’m willing to consider that I got an old batch or maybe my device is the problem. . No problems and the item came as described via US mail in a standard sized envelope. Excellent replacement for LR1130. Apparently button batteries often have multiple (6 or more) equivalent names, based on type of chemistry (Alkaline, Lithium, Silver Oxide) and/or manufacturer. In this case, the silver oxide 389/390 (SR1130) is a longer lasting and more stable version of the alkaline (LR1130). There were 5 batteries in the package (exactly as pictured). . Needed these for my digital quick temp thermometer, oddly enough none of the stores around here that sold it actually had batteries. Silver oxide was supposed to be better than Akaline, so I got these. First battery I installed is already reporting low voltage. For the price I’m not going to complain much. . Energizer 5 pack, sold by My BatterySupplier. All five batteries tested dead. The generously sized watch-face does not look ridiculously large on my tiny wrists. The watch is able to display time in either 12- or 24- hour display mode, displays the day of the week, & the date on the main, timekeeper screen. Admittedly, I am used to the month-date-year format of my other Casio’s. But for less than $11, it’s no biggie. My only real gripe is that the blue watch color depicted in the photos are much brighter than they actually are. The watch’s color is closer to being more of a navy blue, than the bright, electric blue I thought I was receiving. Nevertheless, I’d recommend this watch for what it is- a simple, no-frills watch from a dependable watch company. . Bought this for my 7 year old son, and he loves it. The only issue was the band still a bit too large for his wrist, but he will grow into it. But still 5 stars because that’s not the watch’s fault. It was just a small lag, but never saw that before. In any event, it’s been going strong.rnI’m pleased. . I have more and more health care devices coming everyday. I was trying to replace a marginal battery in my watch, but it had more power, according to my battery tester and multi-meter, than either of the supposedly new batteries. The new batteries are supposed to be 1.5V but only put out 0.8 V and 0.7 V with a resistive load vs 1.0 V from the 4 year old battery in my watch. . Battery charge was low . I ordered two batteries from this supplier and both had charges of less than 1.25v out of the packaging. Should have 1.5v. Shameful. . I ordered two batteries. I have 2 watches — one which held a 370 and another with a 371. The battery did not work in the watch where I replaced a 371.
