2 – Satechi Aluminum Bluetooth Wireless 26-Key Smart Keypad and Calculator Keyboard Extension for 2017 iMac, MacBook Pro, MacBook, iPad, iPhone, Dell, Lenovo and More

This is a great addition to a keyboard that doesn’t have a 10 key, like a Mac. THIS KEYPAD DOES NOT WORK WITH QUICKBOOKS. I called the company to verify and we came to the same conclusion. It is not compatible with quickbooks. It works fine in other places. It works in some areas of quickbooks, for example (and this may be vise versa, I don’t remember) to write a check it works fine, but then you switch to the check register to enter a transaction there, it recognizes the keypad as arrow keys and will only move your curser up and down or sideways. The reason I bought this keypad is because I purchased a Mac computer for the first time but I do a lot of accounting and Mac’s don’t have a 10 key. I was really frustrated but nothing I could do about it, just how it is. I did return it. Amazon is great at returns for whatever reason. .
Does what I need it to do, but could use a couple of improvements:1- as others have mentioned, it definitely needs a backlight on the calculator screen.2- would be handy to have a ‘=’ button for easier use in MS Excel/etc (as the Apple keyboard w/ 10key does). Kind of inconvenient to have to go back and forth between your laptop’s keyboard and this external 10key and makes you just want to use a full second keyboard w/ 10key instead.3- the on/off switch is inconveniently placed on the back and is very shallow and tiny4- pairing with a PC was difficult. You need to make sure the 10key is in keyboard mode and when when Windows 10 asks for the pairing ID #, you need to first enter whatever 8-digit number you want to use into your laptop, hit next (or pair) and then enter the same 8-digit number that you came up with into the 10key followed by ‘enter’. The included instructions didn’t list this out at all. Also Windows 10 finds a “Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard” or something like that, not the ST____ that the instruction say it’ll show. Regardless, and as always, pairing was much much easier with my Mac and iPhone. I guess Satechi should just include much more accurate instructions and instructions for the various operating systems (instructions for each of Windows 7, 8 or 10 + Mac OS X). .
This is a nice looking product that would have been helpful next to my Apple wireless keyboard had it only worked. It has two substantial problems:1) It is never on when you need it. Because it only uses puny AAA batteries it has an auto shut-off “feature” to try to save the batteries. This means, that when you are not looking, it powers down, kills the display and kills the bluetooth link to your computer. When you are ready to use it for an entry it is lying there sleeping and has to be reawakened. It then wakes and re-pairs with the bluetooth while you go get a cup of coffee (meaning it takes about 35 seconds to become usable once again). If you are trying to cut down on coffee you can just sit and wait for 35 seconds before doing what you intended.2) After more than twenty or so entries it starts to scramble the input adding a bunch of extra decimal points of some other extraneous characters. No problem- turn it off, turn it on and wait another 35 seconds. If you are using it with a Mac wireless keyboard you will find that, although it is similarly styled, the key size and pitch are different . It also lacks page up, page down and home keys. When it works, the calculate and paste function is useful. Overall- close but no banana. .
I have an Acer Swift 5 Laptop and although its an awesome computer, the keypad is along the top which makes it difficult if I have a lot of numbers to type in. I found this Satechi Wireless Smart Keypad and it is awesome. It switches modes from calculator to keypad by touching the mode button and once synced with your computer, it works flawlessly. It has a sleep function that helps save battery life and is easily awakened by touching the wake button. Can be use with spreadsheets or to type in numbers for any reason and switches to calculator when needed. Calculation results can also be sent to a spreadsheet cell by touching the Send button. Wish I found this long ago. Thanks!! .

3 – Smart Tweezers ST5-S Professional LCR Meter/ESR Meter with Spare Test Leads and Pocket Case

Great product. It takes some getting used to. The biggest are the arms on the tweezers. They are too long and are easy to flex up and down, so that your tweezer ends don’t meet exactly at a point. If you are lifting passives (especially ones as small as 0402) from boards and want to measure their values, you need to be careful of this “defect”. Cleaning up the board with some flux cleaner before starting helps make good contact. If you don’t get good contact on, say, a 0402 inductor – then you have to wiggle it around a bit. That can cause the component to snap out of place since the arms on the tweezers flex so much, so your component “disappear” on you.I contacted the seller about the case. I’m not sure if it was brittle from cold weather or it was my fault in mishandling, but it broke within a couple months of having the tweezers. The sellers acted right away and sent me a brand new one. Great customer service. .
I’m using it primarily while working on prototypes of industrial automation control devices – the instrument works exactly as described, I had no any glitches or malfunctions yet. Great aid for repair, building or tweaking up boards with small SMD components (those seemingly gold plated tips it comes with are easily landing on 0402 footprint components and are of good quality overall – the “shorting” resistance is less then 40 mOhm) – saves alot of time in comparison to frustrating process to do that holding probes of conventional multimeter as chopsticks. Fast and accurate (compared with readouts of benchtop Fluke multimeter) readings, crisp graphic OLED display, plenty of measurement modes and presets (including, for the instance, caps ESR, diode voltage drop (useful for transistors as well) measurement, etc. The thing like these tweezers becomes exceptionally useful for finding right replacement components to scavenge from scrapped boards for resuscitation of device being repaired. The interface is convenient and reasonably intuitive for such small instrument – the brief look at supplied “menu tree” card and you got it (e.g., the “joystick control” has direct shortcuts to common measuring modes and parameters setup. .
Update: Advance Devices contacted me and helped me to restore the tweezer I had, there is an issue with the processor going into sleep mode on the version I had (I suggested they add more details to the manual or creating a troubleshooting guide.) They also shipped me a new version of the tweezers that do not have this problem and have some other improvements. I am back up and running, and using the new tweezers. Thanks to Advance Devices for the great service, have no reservations, if something goes wrong, Advance Devices will take care of you.Original review:I design high performance analog circuitry for a living and have worked designing electronics for 20 years now. I work on the highest performance circuitry in the world. I’ve recommended these tweezers to friends in the industry, and right now I am wondering if I steered others in the wrong direction.I loved these tweezers for the first 6 months, really makse testing surface mount components fast and easy. But when I went to use the tweezers recently, they would not turn on. I checked the cables and charger, tried a few different options, other device that uses the same charging port charge just fine. I get nothing on the display, just completely dead. More than a little disappointing given I have only had them 6 months. The company has no information on service, warranty or otherwise. I sent an e-mail, and got no response. Maybe they are small and on vacation? I am going to try and call, but thus far it seems the customer service is non-existent from the manufacturer, and appears that it is going to be a pain for me. Unless/until the company responds, I will be giving this product 1 star and I do not recommend that you spend close to $300 on this item when service is so questionable. Hopefully the company won’t continue to be MIA and will stand behind the product they are selling. I will update my review with new information. .
While pricey, the investment has already paid off in trouble shooting a complex board that has numerous 0402 components. I’m surprised by the accuracy, although I wish it would go to 100 kHz to better isolate the component under test from the rest of the network. In a matter of minutes I found the bad component. When I removed it from the board I found that excess flux had prevented it from bonding to the pad, leaving the trace partially open. While other instruments at a lower price will work for larger components, this seems like a very good tool for the really small stuff.I have also found it good for sorting components that are in cut tape, but not clearly marked. I have a pile of resistor values where the printing on the tapes was illegible. I can use the Smart Tweezers to poke through the tap and contact the component to take a measurement without removing it from the carrier. .

4 – AC Current Voltage Amperage Power Energy Panel Meter LCD Digital Display Ammeter Voltmeter Multimeter with Split Core Current Transformer CT AC 80-260V 100A (AC 100A Meter(Split Core Transformer))

Ok on this one if you only want to measure up to 5 Amps. Read description carefully. The CTs are rated for 100 Amps. But the readout is only up to 5. Had to return because I needed to model that displays 99.9 Amps nice product though. .
I ordered one of these to try it out and it seemed to work fine so I ordered additional. While the seller makes available a simple program to read one device and to set it’s device address. To read more than one device you need to either buy a program or write your own. I tried several try before you buy programs and none worked for me so I decided to try to write my own. I have not written any python programs before but since the open source library that I found was in python I gave it a try. My program does read the values from more than one device and display the data in my shell session but it seems too slow. I will be searching for better options of software to read the data and store it into a database for later drawing graphs, etc. I want to put one of these on each of my home circuits and then draw graphs to visualize when and where energy is being used. One more thing, I used an unused pair of my phone line that runs to every room of my house to carry the data from the 2 units in my circuit breaker panel to any room of my house that I can plug the usb adapter into that pair of the phone line. When the other units that I ordered arrive I will find out how well my methods of connecting multiple devices works. It is working very well for me with just 2 and I recommend this to anyone that likes to write their own programs to make use of the energy data. .
I mounted the display to a manual service disconnect box so I could read loads on my 6500W emergency generator. The screen is washed out a bit. Not nearly as crisp or readable as the advertised pictures. Need to be close and at the right viewing angle to see the numbers. The plastic clips that hold the unit in place are very fragile! That’s all I can really comment on, as far as the product is concerned, as I have not tested the functions of the display under generator load. In the photo I took, the power for the display was back fed from my house panel (via a separate emergency generator breaker that I normally keep OPEN), and the manual service disconnect was also OPEN, so there was no load which is why the display shows 245 volts, but 0 amps. The instructions were written (or translated) by someone who apparently uses English as a fifth language. Very incomplete and devoid of all but the most cursory safety reminders. For Pete’s sake, turn off all power to the lines you are installing this unit on . and double check you are power free with a meter.Although the unit is rated to 260V, the instructions assume you are using a 2 conductor wire (normally black = hot, white = neutral) as the power source regardless of your voltage. However, in the US, a 3 conductor wire (black = hot, red = hot, white = neutral) provides 240V power inside your house. Each hot carries 120V relative to neutral, and you get 240V across the two hots. So when connecting this display to 240V power on a 3 conductor circuit instead of running a hot and neutral (black and white) to the display like you would for standard 120V wiring, you leave out the neutral connection and run both of the hots (black and red) one hot to each of the two power terminals on the display. Again, that’s ONE hot to EACH power terminal.DANGER!! If wiring for 240V with 3 conductor wire . DO NOT wire both hots to one terminal thinking you get 240V by connecting the two wires together, or that you must have the other terminal free for a neutral connection. Joining the two hots will cause a short!! and a large flash of light, and probably trip breakers . at best. It could melt wires, fry the display, or much much MUCH worse. Get expert assistance if you don’t have knowledge and experience working with electricity. .
This meter functioned exactly as I expected. The installation was simple (I installed it in the outlet powering my Trotec Speeedy500 Laser). Split-core transformer was so much better. I’m not sure what other reviewers were talking about when they claimed it would only display current values up to 5A. My unit displayed instantaneous current readings above 7A (@120V). When the Wh field stores values above 1000 is automatically switches to kWh. Says it can store info up to 999.9kWh. .
