Want to make a melody from your favorite song? Cut your song online. Want to edit some of the effects? You can edit music online. Want to mix songs for your own mashup or overlay a different beat? You can do this online and for free.
We are going to explore several sites to help us do this.
We’ll split the sites into two categories:
- Easy audio editing – allows us to make basic edits such as cutting, mixing lights, fading in and out.
- Full featured audio editing – Capable of complex editing like multitrack, add effects or instruments, receive MIDI input, record. Everything you’d expect from an audio editing application like Audacity. If you haven’t tried the free, full-featured audio editing app Audacity yet, give it a try.
BearAudio
Lightweight Online Audio Editors
BearAudio
BearAudio is a free online MP3 cutter, but it offers several editing tools. The interface is easy to use and straightforward. It is a fast loading site and in our testing it processes files quite quickly.
At the top of the ad-supported site, there are links to some of BearAudio’s other tools, such as their voice recorder and audio converter.
Features:
- Record.
- Sound Library – a small library of sound effects.
- Stereo capability.
- Cut.
- Appearance and disappearance.
- Change the volume of a section.
- Convert WAV to MP3.
AudioTrimmer
He does what he says. Cuts the sound. Use AudioTrimmer for the really fast cuts and cuts we might need on the go. If you can click and drag, you can edit with that.
This is an ad-supported site and the maximum file size that can be downloaded is 100 MB. Like BearAudio, there are links at the top of the site to their other specialized tools, such as an MP3 converter, tempo control, volume booster, sound reverser, and a small free music section that is free to download. MP3Cut
Single-function audio editing should be popular. MP3Cut is another online tool to easily trim and trim audio. It supports almost any audio format you can think of – MP3 3G2, AIFF, AVI about 300 formats in total. This includes obscure formats such as those used in Bethesda games or even Commodore 64.
Again, there are links to other disposable tools at the top of the site, such as an audio merger, converter, voice recorder, and even a few video tools.

Apowersoft Free Online Audio Editor
Apowersoft has the same tools features we talked about, but works a little differently when you want to edit music online. There is a launcher that needs to be installed on first use.
This is good, because then the audio editor opens in its own window without cluttering the toolbars and browser tabs. You can also download the desktop version.

- Segment selection with millisecond precision.
- Adding audio.
- Mixing audio files.

Clideo
Clideo is another good choice for a free online audio cutter that is easy to use. It differs from others in that after we load the sound for work, it opens in a full-screen editing studio. Click and drag the tabs to select a sound. If you know the exact start and end times, enter them for accuracy.
Choose from 15 of the most popular audio file formats and upload your ringtone or clip. If you need something more, select one of the other Clideo tools at the top of the site.
Features
- Clean and simple user interface.
- Save files in one of the 15 most popular audio file formats.
- Appearance and disappearance.
- Precise time entry with millisecond precision for the start and end of the cut.
WubMachine
And now about something else! WubMachine gives you the ability to “turn any music into dubstep, drum & bass and more” with one click. Upload or drag and drop a song. You can even search SoundCloud and download the song from there.
Choose from five styles, two sounds, two speeds, or even a Jingle Bell instrument for festive fun. WubMachine automatically applies it to the song. Once that’s done, download the MP3 or share it directly to SoundCloud. Or press the Again button to go back and overdub with a different style, sound, or speed. WubMachine seems like a more fun tool than a serious online music editor.
Features
- SoundCloud Integration.
- 5 styles – trap, dubstep, swing, electro house, drum & bass.
- 2 sounds – kick and Cowbell.
- 2 speeds – double time and half time.
