EZVIZ C3X Outdoor Security Camera Review.
Keeping your home safe outdoors is more important than ever before. A recent poll showed that one in three people have experienced packaging theft. And the more people will be at home due to the quarantine (and as Christmas approaches, more shopping on holidays), this number is likely to increase.
To keep the outside of your home safe, you need an outdoor security camera that not only provides a clear image, but also withstands all weather conditions. EZVIZ C3X outdoor surveillance cameras are a potential option.
EZVIZ submitted the C3X for review and gave us the opportunity to evaluate it ourselves.
Installation
The EZVIZ C3X has one of the easiest setup processes of any outdoor CCTV camera on the market. The first step is to download the application to your mobile device. Once you’ve done that, create an account and then click on the plus sign in the upper right corner of the screen to add a new camera.
The Quick Start Guide that came with the box has a QR code on the front. When you start adding a camera, you can simply scan the app code to find your device. From here, just follow the onscreen instructions to get started.
In terms of installation, the EZVIZ C3X comes with three mounting screws, as well as hollow drywall anchors if you can’t find the rack in the wall. The camera base can be unscrewed and slid off the camera body, making it much easier to attach to a wall. Just reattach the base and camera body as soon as you install them.
The box includes a drill template that can be glued to the wall to align the required screws.
user interface
The basic C3X interface is intuitive and easy to understand. There are two modes at the top of the screen: home and exit. Home mode turns off notifications and sets the camera to privacy mode. Leaving home mode turns on notifications.
All connected cameras can be quickly displayed under these two parameters. The example photo above shows only one camera because we only tested one. It displays the name of the camera and two icons: a man and a gear icon.
The human icon lets you change alarm notifications. You can enable detection tagging, set up a specific notification schedule, and even specify exactly which areas you want to receive notifications for. You can also adjust the sensitivity of motion detection.
The gear icon opens the settings menu. This menu allows you to enable or disable audio for both live and recorded footage, toggle the status indicator on or off, set auto brightness detection, and more.
However, all this is for setting parameters. If you want to control the camera, you will need to touch the display. This will open another screen that will show you the live camera image and also give you access to several options:
- Video History
- Snapshot
- Record
- Speak
- Active Defense
- Definition
The history of the video is self-explanatory. It shows all previously recorded video clips collected by the camera. A snapshot takes a snapshot of whatever is currently displayed on the screen.
Recording allows you to save a video clip from tape in real time. The Speak feature activates the speaker on the camera, allowing you to speak to someone on the other side, especially useful for alerting potential thieves.
Active protection includes a loud siren and strobe to draw attention to your home and scare anyone in the vicinity. The definition allows you to switch between Hi-Def and Ultra-HD video.
Features
The EZVIZ C3X outdoor security camera has many advantages, but its strongest feature is the dual lens color night vision.
The photo above was taken in complete darkness, apart from a distant street lamp. During testing, the EZVIZ C3X demonstrated high quality night vision in almost every case, although if the light source is too close to the camera, it will switch to standard black and white mode.
The camera can also detect human and vehicle movement, and customizable activity zones mean you can point the camera at the road and see a wider area of your yard, but only select areas near your front door to activate motion alerts.
Technical specifications
The EZVIZ C3X is a powerful camera. It boasts a 1920 × 1080 resolution and infrared night vision up to 25 feet away. It also has an IP67 rating, which means it can withstand just about anything that nature might throw in its path (although a tidal wave might. Don’t submerge it).
The C3X connects over a 2.4GHz connection and integrates with Alexa. It also comes with a 256GB SD card for onboard storage, although it also offers a month’s free trial of EZVIZ Cloud storage services.
The design of the camera deserves attention from a purely objective point of view. It has a strong and durable metal body. The adjustable antennas on the sides are made of durable plastic but are easy to adjust.
Priced at just $ 150 on Amazon, the EZVIZ C3X is an affordable, powerful camera that boasts many of the same features as much more expensive models. If you’re looking for a mid-range camera that fits your budget, it’s worth checking out. Built-in storage eliminates many privacy concerns, and an outdoor security camera itself can keep track of your home while you’re away.
