FIX: Volume Too Loud On Lowest Setting.Fix Android volume too loud on lowest setting.

Do you find that your headphones or speakers are too loud even after setting the minimum volume? Is this problem the same for all apps and files while playing media? Or does it refer to an individual song or file? We’ll highlight some of the factors causing this problem and show you how to adjust the audio output to an acceptable volume on your smartphone (Android and iOS) and computer (Windows and Mac).

Continuous exposure to too loud noise can damage your hearing. Therefore, you should run these checks immediately to troubleshoot your device. If you are using an external audio device, disconnect and reconnect it to the device. This could fix the problem. If not, try the following guidelines.

FIX: Volume Too Loud On Lowest Setting

1. Adjust the App’s Volume Settings

Some programs have a separate volume controller that is independent of your device’s system-wide volume settings. For example, the Music app on laptops and Mac desktops has a dedicated volume slider to adjust the playback volume for one or all songs.

So, if the audio output seems too loud even when your Mac’s volume is at its lowest, move the volume slider in the upper right corner of the Music app to decrease the volume as you see fit.

It should be noted that the Music app sometimes plays some songs louder than others. If you notice that your Mac’s volume is too loud at the lowest settings when playing a specific song (or album), go to the content settings menu and make sure there are no additional effects or volume settings.

Control-click the song in the Music Menu and choose Get Info from the context menu. Better yet, select a song and press Command (⌘) + I.

Alternatively, select a song, choose Song from the menu bar, and choose Information.

Click the Options tab and make sure the Volume Control slider is set to None. You must also set the Equalizer to None. Click “OK” to save your changes.

This will remove any sound effects that make the song (s) sound louder than other songs

2. Disable Absolute Volume in Android

Absolute Volume is an Android feature that combines and synchronizes the volume control on your smartphone and audio devices. This means that increasing the volume of your phone will also increase the volume of your Bluetooth headphone or speaker. This is a great feature, but sometimes it makes the volume on Bluetooth devices unacceptably high, even if your phone’s volume is low.

The Absolute Volume feature is enabled by default and hidden in Android Developer Options. Disabling this feature will split the volume levels of your devices and fix volume issues. Try it and see if it helps.

Open the Settings app and select About Phone at the bottom of the page. Scroll down the page and click Build Number seven times until you get the message “You are a developer now!” message at the bottom of the screen.

3. Reduce Loud Sounds in iPhone and iPad

IOS and iPadOS have a Headphone Safety feature that analyzes the sound in your headphones and reduces the volume above a certain decibel level. Connect AirPods or Bluetooth listening device to iPad or iPhone and follow these steps.

Open the Settings app on your iPhone, select Sounds & Tactile (or Sounds for iPhone 6S and earlier), select Headphone Safety, and turn on Volume Down.

FIX: Volume Too Loud On Lowest Setting

On iPad, go to Settings> Sounds> Volume Down and turn on Volume Down.

The next thing to do is adjust the noise level, which should not go beyond the volume of the headphones. There are five levels of noise reduction:

FIX: Volume Too Loud On Lowest Setting

75 decibels: Your iPhone or iPad will lower the headphone volume if the sound output becomes as loud as a vacuum cleaner. 80 decibels: This noise level is similar to that of a noisy restaurant. The noise canceling mechanism will operate if the audio output from the headphones reaches or exceeds this level. 85 decibels: Your device will lower the headphone volume so that it is not louder than “heavy city traffic”. 95 decibels: The reference for this noise level is the car horn. 100 decibels: Listening to sound at the noise level of an ambulance or emergency siren (100 to 130 decibels) can cause permanent hearing damage. With this noise canceling level selected, the volume of your headphones will not exceed 100 decibels (100 dB).

You can use the Hearing tool to check the noise level on your headphones while listening to music or watching videos.

Go to Settings> Control Center and tap the plus sign next to the Hearing box. This will add the hearing aid to the Control Center for easy access.

Connect Bluetooth headphones to iPhone or iPad and play the song. Open Control Center, tap the Hearing icon and you will see noise in the upper left corner of the headphone level meter.

Note. Apple says headphone sound measurements on the iPhone or iPad are most accurate when using Apple headphones (AirPods) or Beats. Third-party headphone noise levels are calculated based on the volume of your iPhone or iPad.

4. Update Your Headphones Firmware

Many high quality headphones have firmware to ensure they work properly. Updating the headphone firmware to the latest version will fix performance issues and other glitches causing excessively loud volumes.

5. Run the Windows Audio Troubleshooter

Windows devices have a built-in troubleshooter that diagnoses and fixes sound problems. The Sound Troubleshooter will scan your PC’s sound service, audio drivers, and sound settings for anomalies causing the volume to be too high.

Go to Settings> Update & Security> Troubleshoot> Advanced Troubleshooters> Sound Playback and select Run the troubleshooter.

FIX: Volume Too Loud On Lowest Setting

Select an audio device or headphones that are too loud and click Next.

FIX: Volume Too Loud On Lowest Setting

Follow the recommendations on the results page and check if that solves the problem. Sound effects and enhancements can also destabilize your device’s volume. You will most likely be redirected to the Disable Sound Effects and Enhancements page, where you will be prompted to disable sound effects. Select “Yes, open sound enhancements” to continue.

FIX: Volume Too Loud On Lowest Setting

Click the Turn off button in the Speaker Properties window and click OK to continue.

FIX: Volume Too Loud On Lowest Setting

Note. If your Windows PC has a dedicated Enhancements tab, select the Disable all enhancements check box and click OK to save your changes.

Restart your computer and check if the audio volume has gone down when you set the computer to minimum volume.

6. Update or Roll Back Your PC’s Audio Driver

If the volume of your headphones or PC speakers is still too loud even after you turn off the audio enhancement, update the drivers powering the devices. But if the problem occurs after installing the driver with errors, roll back the driver to a stable version.

Press Windows Key + X and select Device Manager.

FIX: Volume Too Loud On Lowest Setting

Expand the Audio Inputs and Outputs category.

FIX: Volume Too Loud On Lowest Setting

Right-click the driver that powers your active audio device – headphones, speaker, etc. – and select Properties.

FIX: Volume Too Loud On Lowest Setting

Go to the “Driver” tab and select “Update Driver”.

FIX: Volume Too Loud On Lowest Setting

Select Search for drivers automatically and wait while Device Manager searches your PC and the Internet for the latest driver. Make sure your computer is connected to a Wi-Fi or Ethernet network, otherwise it won’t work.

FIX: Volume Too Loud On Lowest Setting

To downgrade your device’s audio driver to a previous version, select Roll Back Driver in the driver properties window (see Step 4 above). The option will be grayed out if you haven’t updated the driver.

FIX: Volume Too Loud On Lowest Setting

Reduce Excessively Loud Audio

Restarting your device can also fix temporary system glitches affecting headphone or speaker volume. Turn off your smartphone or computer, turn it on again, reconnect your headphones or speaker, and try adjusting the volume.

If the sound is still too loud at the lowest volume level, update the device software and try again. This will fix bugs related to sound and update your PC’s audio drivers – if an update is available.
