Recently, my wife was trying to buy something on iTunes from her iPhone and was asked to confirm her billing information.
When she tried to enter the security code on the back of her credit card, she just kept getting the “Security code is invalid†message, even if it was perfectly correct. The weird thing is that I could buy stuff on my MacBook at home and on my iPhone without any problem.
Anyway, after being very disappointed with this silly mistake, I finally got it to work through sheer luck. I couldn’t really figure out what the problem was, so I just didn’t do anything until the next day. When we tried to enter the security code 24 hours later, it miraculously worked.
But after doing some research on the internet, I found that this error can occur for all sorts of insane reasons, and it’s really annoying because you don’t get any feedback on why it won’t accept the security code. In this article, I have collected several reasons why you might experience a crash and how you can try to fix this problem.
Try to re-enter your credit / debit information
The first thing you can do is try to re-enter all your credit / debit card information and see if that works. In iTunes, go to Store and then View My Account.
Then click the “Edit” link next to the “Payment Type” field on the “Account Summary” page:
At the top you will see a list of cards and an option “No”. Go ahead and click “No” and then click “Finish”.
Once this is saved, click the Change button again and re-enter your credit card details. Hopefully it accepts the card details and you can shop.
Check state matches
Another issue that caused the security code issue for many people was that their country of residence in iTunes was different from the country for their credit or debit card.
Therefore, it is a good idea to make sure that the country in which your credit / debit card billing address is listed is the same as the country for the region you specified.
closed account
For some reason, there are times when you might try to buy something, but Apple denies the payment request. This could have happened for a variety of reasons, but basically your account is blocked until the balance is fully paid.
Unfortunately, the only way to do this is by using an iTunes Gift Card. So, basically, you need to purchase an iTunes gift card and then apply it to your balance. At this point, your account will be unlocked and you can check the security code for your credit card.
Check out the address carefully
Another reason this can happen is because the address you entered into iTunes is slightly different from the address you linked to your credit card. For example, if you live at 5525 North Mounes St and in iTunes you have 5525 N Mounes St, these two values ??will not match and you will get a security code error.
So it’s best to go to the website of your credit or debit card company and check which address, and then make sure it’s the exact address you entered into iTunes.
Revoke the license and license of the computer
You can also try selecting “No†as payment in your iTunes account and then de-authorizing your computer.
Then re-authorize your computer and enter your credit card details, and hopefully you can enter them without errors!
Try a different card
Usually the problem is with iTunes, but in rare cases, your bank account or card may not have enough funds to complete the purchase. Check it out as a last resort if all else fails.
Alternatively, you can try a different credit card if you really need to buy something immediately, which is how it should be.
Hopefully, thanks to some of these tips, your card will work again in the iTunes store! If you have another problem or something not mentioned here, please leave a comment and I will try to help! Enjoy!
