How to Backup PS4 Data To The Cloud

Posted on October 4, 2020 By blog_786 No Comments on How to Backup PS4 Data To The Cloud

In our almost entirely digital world, data loss can be catastrophic, especially if it’s a Skyrim rescue that you’ve spent hundreds of hours on. The good news is that cloud storage allows you to back up your data for whatever reason, whether you’re wiping your console or because you know that if you have to start all over again, you’ll be playing the invisible archer and that’s it. will end.

The process of backing up PS4 data to the cloud is simple. You only need a PlayStation Plus subscription to access PlayStation cloud storage. You can get one month for as little as $ 10 per month, but the more cost-effective option is to invest for a year, or roughly $ 60 per year.

How to backup PS4 data to the cloud

The most obvious (and common) use of PS4 cloud storage is to ensure that your saved games are not lost if your console gets damaged. Another great reason is to transfer save data from one console to another; for example, to show something in the game to a friend. Whatever the reason, here’s how to get started.

Go to the PlayStation 4 main menu by pressing the PlayStation button on your controller. From there, go to the settings menu – the toolbar icon in the right corner next to the power icon.

From here, scroll down the menu until you find Manage App Saved Data. After that, you will see four different menu options:

  • Saved data to system storage
  • Saved data to online storage
  • Saved data to USB drive
  • Startup

Select Startup. You will be taken to the next screen where you can choose which games and applications, if any, you want to automatically upload to the cloud. First, you need to make sure the checkbox next to Enabled Automatic Uploads is checked.

Any game you choose will automatically upload its data to the cloud whenever the PlayStation 4 goes into sleep mode, provided the power settings are set to “Stay connected to the Internet.”

Of course, this is not the only method for uploading save data to the cloud.

How to Upload Data Saving to Cloud from Main Menu

If you don’t want to turn on automatic uploads (possibly due to limited bandwidth), but want to back up your data to the cloud for a one-time event, there is an easy way.

First, select the game you want to download from the main menu. When you find it, press the Options button on your controller. The menu will appear on the right side of the screen. The first option is to upload / download saved data.

Press X. You will be taken to a new screen where you will see all the data stored in the online storage. You can also see all the available data stored on your system. At the top, you have two options: Load All, which stores all saved games in system memory and uploads to the cloud, or Select and Unload, which allows you to select individual saved files to load.

The second option is best chosen if you have multiple saved files and only want to back up the most recent ones. However, if you don’t use cloud storage very often and want the fast and easy version, just select Download All.

If you’ve chosen to automatically upload your data to the cloud, it can take several hours before all of it becomes available, depending on your internet connection speed. Keep in mind that the first generation PlayStation 4 is notorious for poor Wi-Fi cards, so if you want to download information quickly, use an Ethernet cable.

Back up PS4 data without PlayStation Plus subscription

While PS + is a great value given the amount of free games and cloud storage it provides, many people don’t care about gaming and think paying $ 60 a year (or more) is a lot of money just for the cloud. storage.

If you only have a few saved files that you want to protect, you can do it for free. Just use a USB stick instead of cloud storage. Go to the Settings menu and select Manage Application Saved Data again. Instead of choosing Startup, select Saved Data to System Storage, and then select Copy to USB Drive.

Once you select the USB drive you want to save your data to, you just have to sit down and wait – and don’t forget to keep the drive in a safe place!

Regardless of the reason you are backing up your data, it is helpful to know how to do it. There is nothing more devastating than losing your favorite save file and having to start over from scratch.
