I recently searched the internet for free software to burn some CDs and DVDs at home, but then I realized that Windows already has Windows Explorer burning software built in. In fact, it has existed for many years, but it is so invisible that I completely forget about it.

Windows also gives you an excellent CD and DVD burning feature called the Live File System, which basically makes your CD or DVD act like a USB stick, meaning you can edit, add, and delete files on the disc just like on flash memory. disk.

To get started, insert a CD or DVD into your Windows PC and you should see a dialog displayed either in the Action Center or as an autorun window.

If the dialog does not appear, just open Windows Explorer and double-click the CD / DVD drive icon. Another popup will ask you how you want to use this drive.

Give the disc a name and then choose if you want it to act like a USB stick or a mastering disc. The downside to using a flash drive is that you can only use the drive on computers running Windows XP and above. Obviously, if you are burning this disc for another device, such as a CD or DVD player, you should choose the second option.

Then you will get an empty explorer window where you can drag and drop the files you want to burn to disk. Your best bet is to open another explorer window with the files you want to write.
