Microsoft Office lets you use any font you like in your documents. However, it does not save the font settings when you close these Office programs. Then you will need to choose your preferred font every time you create a new document.

If you tend to use a specific font in your Office documents, we recommend that you set that font as the default font in all Office applications. There are ways to change the default font in various applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

How to change the default font in Microsoft Word

Setting the default font in Microsoft Word is quite simple, and you don’t need to edit configuration files to do this.

1. Start Microsoft Word

2. Click the Blank Document option in the right pane to create a new document.

3. On the document editing screen, click the arrow icon in the font section to open the font settings menu.

4. You can now select your preferred font that you want to set as the default font. Use the drop-down menus to customize your own style for your font. Then click the “Set as default” button at the bottom.

5. Word will ask you what type of document you want to set the selected font as the default. Select All Documents Based on Normal.dotm Template and click OK.

6. Click OK again.

Microsoft Word will now use the selected default font for all of your blank document templates. If you use any other templates, Word will use the default font for them.

How to change the default font in Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel allows you to customize several options for your new spreadsheets. These options include font size, default sheet appearance, number of sheets to create, and font style.

To change the default font in Excel:

1. Start Excel and create a new spreadsheet.

2. Click the File tab in the upper left corner.

3. At the bottom of the left sidebar is the Options option. Click it to open the Excel settings menu.

How to change the default font in Microsoft PowerPoint

Microsoft PowerPoint allows you to apply a specific font to all slides in the current presentation, but you cannot set the default font for all new presentations. However, you can create a template that will use the font of your choice in all presentations based on this template

Set the default font for your entire current presentation

1. Open your presentation in PowerPoint.

2. Click the View tab at the top.

3. Select a slide master on the next screen.

4. Make sure you are on the Slide Master tab. Then click “Fonts” in the “Background” section.

5. Now you can choose the default font for the current presentation.
6. Click Configure Fonts at the bottom for more options.

7. PowerPoint now allows you to specify a few more options for the default font. Enter the name of this font style at the bottom and click “Save” to save your changes.

Create a template with a default font

You can create a presentation template with a font of your choice, and all your future presentations using this template will use the selected font.

1. Open PowerPoint, click the View tab and select Slide Master.
2. Click Fonts on the Slide Master tab and select a default font.
3. Now you need to save these settings as a template. Click “File” at the top and select “Save As” in the left sidebar.

4. Click Browse in the right pane.

5. Go to the Documents folder and select the Office Custom Templates folder.

   Enter a name for your template, choose PowerPoint Template from the Save as type drop-down menu, and click Save.

6. To use this template to create new presentations, click New in the main PowerPoint interface and select Personal, then provide a name for the template.

How to change the default font in Microsoft Outlook

The nice thing about Outlook is that it allows you to set the default font for a variety of purposes. You can set the default font for new emails, or you can set the default font for replying or forwarding emails

Change the default font in Outlook for desktop

1. Open Microsoft Outlook

2. Click the File tab at the top.

3. Select Options from the left sidebar.

4. Click the Mail tab in the field that opens on your screen.
5. In the right sidebar, click the Stationery and Fonts button.

6. You can now set the default font for Outlook Click “Font” under “New Emails” to choose a font from your system.

7. Click Font under Replies or Forwards to set a different default font for replies and forwards in emails.

8. Finally, click OK at the bottom to save your changes.

Change the default font in Outlook for the web

You can’t choose from the fonts stored on your computer when using Outlook on the web, but it does have many pre-installed fonts to choose from.

1. Open Outlook on the web in a browser.
2. Sign in to your Outlook account.
3. Click the settings icon in the upper right corner and select View All Outlook Settings.

4. Click Write & Reply.

5. Scroll down the right pane until you see the Message Format section. In this section, click the font drop-down menu and select a new default font for Outlook on the web.

6. Click “Save” at the bottom to save the settings.
