How To Conference Call On An iPhone.
In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic, most people are looking for easier ways to communicate with family, friends or colleagues, especially those working from home One of the quickest ways to do this is through conference calls.
A conference call is a session in which many people communicate at the same time via voice or video. You can easily set up conference calls on iPhone instead of using a paid conference calling service that requires dialing special phone numbers, remembering long access codes, and / or paying for the service.
However, on your iPhone, the service is part of the Phone app preinstalled on your device, which supports up to five callers, including you, depending on your location, device, and mobile operator.
All this allows you to quickly organize a conference call. But how to do it in the first place?
How to make a conference call on an iPhone
There are three methods you can use for iPhone conferencing:
- Using the Phone app.
- Group FaceTime chat.
- Usage Conferencing Application.
Use the Phone app
With an iPhone, you can call up to five people at the same time, and they don’t need anything more than their phone, be it an Android device, an iPhone, or a landline phone. Here are the steps you need to take to set up conference calling on iPhone. They may differ depending on the iOS version, but there are still free conference calls on your device.
–
From the iPhone home screen, open the Phone app and call the first person in the usual way, and after he or she picks up the phone, tap Add Call on the screen and select the next person you want to add from your phone book. or dial their number from the keyboard.
Once connected to the second recipient, tap Combine Calls on the screen to combine all calls into one conference call. You will see that all calls are combined on the screen into one line.
Then click Hang Up to hang up the phone or end the conference call. This will end all calls for all participants at once.
Note. You can add up to five people, including you, if you need to make more than a three-way call.
If an incoming call comes in while you are on the phone with other people, you can combine both lines to create a new conference. To do this, tap “Hold and Accept” in the lower right corner of your phone screen when it starts ringing, and put the first call on hold to open a new line for the person calling you.
Click Merge Calls to merge calls into one conference call.
Note. You can tap Send to Voicemail to reject any other incoming calls if you don’t want to receive them, or tap Reject if your phone’s contract does not support voicemail.
However, if you press End and Accept, you end the current call and immediately accept the incoming call.
How to manage people in a conference call on iPhone
You can drop participants from the conference call individually or talk privately with the call participants. This is useful if you do not want to completely end a call for all participants at the same time, or if you just want to convey some information that is relevant to one participant.
To do this, press the blue “i” button in the upper right corner of the screen after the conference calls.
A list of each call participant will be displayed on your phone screen. If you want to talk to a specific participant individually, click “Private”. This will open a separate line for you and that person to talk privately, but you can bring him or her back to the conference by clicking Join.
To remove someone’s name from the conference call without opening a private private conversation, click End.
You can also mute the audio during a conference call if you do not want others to hear you during a call. You can still hear the rest of the participants, but you can turn yourself on to speak again. This is useful if you need to talk to someone who is not in the call, but is near you, without interrupting the ongoing conference call.
To do this, tap “Mute†to mute your sound, and when you want to speak, tap it again.
However, conferencing shouldn’t stop you from accessing other apps on your iPhone You can still use them during a call, but make sure you tap Speaker in the Phone app so you can hear what other participants are saying during a call.
To do this, press the Home button (iPhone 8 or older) or swipe up from the bottom of your phone screen to open the Home screen. From there, you can open the apps you want, browse the web, and more while on a call.
You can open the Phone app to return to the call at any time, or tap the green bar (iPhone 8 or earlier) or the green bubble at the top of your phone screen.
Note. If you want to record a conference call on iPhone, you can do it using Apple Voice Memos app or alternative voice recording apps for iPhone
You can also tap Swap Calls to switch between the two calls without both being on the conference.
What to do if you cannot make a conference call on iPhone
If you are unable to add or merge new calls on your iPhone to set up conference calls, here’s what you can do:
- Check with our network operator if they offer conference calls on your network
- Start each call yourself to make sure your phone does not combine incoming and outgoing calls.
- If the Add Call button is missing or inactive, place the current call on hold and dial the second number using the keypad. From here, click “Combine” to combine all calls into a conference call.
- Tap Settings Cellular Cellular Options and tap Turn LTE On. Then turn off the VoLTE or WiFi call options as they may not work in conference calls. You may or may not see these options depending on your region or your carrier.
- Use FaceTime to start a group chat with audio or video only if you can’t get conference calls to work on your iPhone all the time because everyone is using Apple devices.
