How to Create a Wi-Fi Hotspot From a WiFi Connection on Mac.

You cannot share a Wi-Fi connection over a Wi-Fi hotspot on Mac. Well, not initially. It may sound strange, but Windows has had this feature for a while, and even the latest Android smartphones allow it. In this article, we will create a Wi-Fi hotspot on Mac using a Wi-Fi adapter. Let’s start.

Before we start

Let’s deal with the problem first.

Mac, unlike Windows and Android, cannot share a single Wi-Fi adapter. Simply put, the WiFI adapter on a Mac-only works in one mode, that is, it will either be connected to a Wi-Fi network or create its own WiFI hotspot. But you cannot do both at the same time.

We can work around this issue with a simple Wi-Fi adapter. In this article, we are using this TP-Link Nano USB Wifi dongle which costs about $ 13 on Amazon. Once you buy it, all the tools you need to share your Mac’s Wi-Fi connection are built right into it.

Take your Wi-Fi adapter and connect it to your Mac. If it is not automatically detected, please install the appropriate drivers from your product website.

After installing the drivers and app, open the app and connect to your home Wi-Fi network using a Wi-Fi adapter. In my case, the application is in the menu bar and I can easily access it.

We now have a TP-Link wireless adapter acting as a WNIC, so we will be using it to access the internet and share the internet using the Wi-Fi Macbook. Open “System Preferences” on your computer and select “Sharing”.

Under Internet Sharing, select 802.11 NIC from the drop-down menu next to Share your connection from. Wi-Fi will now appear in the box below. Check the “Wi-Fi” box under “For computers using”.

Now click on Wi-Fi Options. Here you can change the name, password, and security level of your Wi-Fi adapter. After making the changes, click OK.

Make sure you have turned on the Internet Sharing option. Select the Internet Sharing checkbox to enable Wi-Fi Sharing, and you have an access point with active Internet access.
