When you need a break from work or study, social media is a popular place to find yourself. Facebook, in particular, helps you kill hours of your time. This is no longer just communication. You can now use Facebook as a job board, money sending app, or gaming platform.
If you’ve ever played a Facebook game, you’ve probably faced the problem of resetting your progress and starting a new game. Since most games are hosted only on Facebook and have their own developers who store your game data, this process is not as easy as it should be.

To reset a game on Facebook, you need to delete the game and its associated Facebook game data, then add it back to your account. If that fails, there are a few other things you can do to start the game over.

There are two ways to delete the game and all Facebook game data from your account. The more obvious way is through the “Games” section of the application.
- Open Facebook on your computer.
- From the menu on the left side of the window, select Games.
- Select the “Your Games” tab.
- Find the game you want to start over and click on the settings wheel icon.
- Scroll down to the Uninstall This Application section and click Uninstall.
- You will see a warning window with information about removing the game and game data from Facebook. From here you can also delete all posts, videos or events posted by the game in your timeline.
Or you can do it in your Facebook settings.
- Open Facebook and click the down arrow in the upper right corner of the window.
- Open Settings & Privacy> Preferences.
- Scroll down until you see Apps and Websites in the left menu.
- In the Apps & Websites section, select the game you want to uninstall and click the box next to it.
- Click Remove to remove the game from your account.

Now that you’ve removed the game from your account, Facebook should delete your Facebook game data as well. Once you add the game again, you can start over.
Either enter the name of the game in the Facebook search bar, go to the Find Games tab to find it, or visit the game’s official Facebook page to find it. When you start playing the game, Facebook will automatically re-add it to your account. You can then find it under the Your Games tab under the Games section.

If you deleted the game and then re-added it to your Facebook account and found that your old game is still there, there are a few other things you can try.
Most games on Facebook have the ability to connect with game developers. You can submit your questions via email, direct message to Facebook, or the game’s fan page online. Send a message to the developers and see if there is a way to delete your Facebook game data and start over, specific to the game you are playing.

While the previous steps should usually help you delete your saved game progress, some games link game data to your Facebook account. This means that simply deleting the game and re-adding it later will not be enough to start over.
The simple solution here is to use a different Facebook account to start the game from the beginning. You can even create a separate Facebook account dedicated to gaming. To restart the game, add it to your new Facebook account and start playing.
How to turn off game and app notifications on Facebook
Even if you play Facebook games with your friends, you don’t want annoying game notifications to appear in their feed. Instead, you can adjust your privacy settings to prevent apps from posting information about your in-game activities to your wall or your friend’s wall.
First of all, when you add a game to your Facebook account, you can check what information you provide and choose whether to accept it or restrict the app’s access to your personal data.
If you missed this popup or didn’t notice it, you can always go to Facebook Settings> Settings & Privacy> Apps & Websites to specify what information you share with each app.
To turn off Facebook game notifications completely, scroll down to the Apps and Websites page to Settings. On the right, find “Game and app notifications”, click “Change” and then “Turn off.” This should help you hide your Facebook activity while playing games.
