How to Download Images from Google Docs.

Downloading images from websites is a simple task, just right click it and select Download if you are not trying to download an image from Google Docs. Sometimes Google decides to complicate simple things, like deleting a photo in Google Photos without losing it to local storage. If you right click on the image in Google Docs, you won’t find any download options. But there are several workarounds, let’s check.

How to download images from Google Docs

Whether you are using a phone or a desktop computer, you can simply take a screenshot and crop the image. But the image quality will be limited. So, if you want to upload images without sacrificing quality, here are the ways to do it.

1. Save to Google Keep

Open Google Docs with the image you want to upload in your computer browser. Select the image and right-click it to open the context menu. Now select the “Save for storage” option.

A small Google Keep interface will open and your image will appear here. You can simply right click on the image in the right pane to load it.

2. By publishing the document on the web

Another way to download an image from Google Docs is to publish it online. Open your image document, click File on the top menu bar Publish Online.

In the pop-up window, click the Publish button. I would recommend that you DO NOT use this method if your document contains personal and confidential information. Remember to stop posting as soon as you upload the images you want.

Open the generated link and download the image by right clicking and saving it to your computer.

Once you’re done, you can stop posting to prevent people from gaining unauthorized access to the document. Select File Publish to the Web Published Content and Preferences and click Stop Publishing.

3. Save it in HTML format

If you have multiple images in Google Docs, saving the document as an HTML file is a great way to load all of the images at once. Open a document, click File Download Web Page (HTML).

The zip archive will automatically download to your computer. Unzip the file and you will find a folder called images.

4. Use the Image Extractor plug-in

Open any document in Google Docs. On the top menu, click Add-Ins Get Add-Ins.

Find a tool to extract and remove images and install the add-on in Google Docs.

Once installed, click Add-on Image Extractor and Remover Save to Disk again. It will save the images to the Google Drive associated with your account.

You can go to Google Drive and download the image from there.

5. Request the desktop version on the phone

This is the only way to download images from Google Docs to your phone. Open a browser on your smartphone, open Google Docs, request a site option for a PC in the menu. Now use any of the 4 methods mentioned above.

The only caveat is that you cannot open Google Docs in a browser if you have the Google Docs app installed. Therefore, you need to either uninstall the application or open Documents in incognito mode.

Oddly enough, Google Docs is missing a small option like saving an image. While most people suggest simply taking a screenshot and cropping it, this will drastically reduce the image quality to the point where it can no longer be used.
