If you’ve ever had problems with people stealing your images after you’ve posted them online, or want to make sure no one wants to flip through your photos, you can add a watermark to them.

The best way to protect your brand or name on each of your photos is to watermark them with your company logo, your last name, or anything else that tells viewers who took the image.

How To Easily Add Watermarks To Your Online Images Before Uploading

There are dozens if not hundreds of free watermarking utilities that you can use, but not all of them are simple or free. Below is a list of the best ways to watermark your images.

Watermark.ws (Online)

The Watermark.ws website is by far the most useful for one simple reason: you can import images from a huge number of websites. It supports uploading images from your computer, as well as Facebook, Google Drive, OneDrive, Google Photos, Evernote, Gmail, Instagram, Box, Amazon Cloud Drive, FTP, Imgur and other places including the Internet.

With this tool, you can add both text and image watermarks to your photos. Many types of fonts are supported and you can easily add the copyright or trademark symbol anywhere in your photos.

We also love this free online watermarking tool because it supports other useful image editing tasks as well, such as cropping, rotating, resizing, flipping, borders, and more.

When you’re done adding the watermark, you can export it to JPG to save the image to your computer. You can upgrade and pay for premium features if you need additional services, such as the ability to save to Facebook and other sites, access to watermark templates, additional fonts or premium filters.

FotoJet (online)

FotoJet is another online watermarking tool that is completely free to use (for basic functions). It allows you to upload images from Facebook or your computer.

The watermarking feature is not technically marketed as such as it is just a text tool, but using FotoJet to watermark images is a better idea than alternative sites as it supports large file uploads and includes handy features like opacity setting, multiple types fonts and layering. There are also glow and outline options for the text tool to make your watermark stand out.

After adding watermarks to your photos, you can share them using the built-in Twitter, Pinterest and Tumblr buttons. Another option is to upload the watermarked image in its original size as a JPG or PNG image file.

Watermark.ink (Online)

If the above online watermarking tools are not what you want, you might like Watermark.ink It supports many more font types and adds the unique ability to display a large X in the image. However, you can only download photos from your computer and not from other sites.

On this website, you can also add your company logo (or any other image) to your photo to maximize the presence of the watermark.

The finished photos can be saved to your computer in JPG or PNG format.

uMark (Windows and Mac)

A website with watermarks on your photos is appropriate if you don’t want to install watermarking software and only need a watermark on a few photos. However, a dedicated watermarking program is better suited for bulk work, for example, when you need to watermark more than one image at a time. Or maybe you just hesitate to upload your images to the website.

uMark is a watermarking tool that allows you to import an entire folder of images to set watermarks for everyone. You can even choose which types of image files to import, as well as whether to take photos from subfolders.

This program has several watermark functions. You can create watermarks with text, images or QR codes, add shapes and effects to images, apply filters, and add copyright information to file metadata.

Since uMark is a desktop application, the watermark text can be any text installed on your computer. There are also macros that can be imported as watermark text, including today’s date, folder name, creation date, image width, and several other parameters.

Output formats include JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, and PDF. Batch rename of files is also supported when it’s time to save watermarked photos.

Some other desktop watermarking software like uMark include Aoao Watermark, Add Watermark to Photo, Mass Watermark, Arclab Watermark Studio, TSR Watermark Image, and iWatermark Pro

Add a watermark to photos (Android)

If you need to add a watermark to your Android photo, you can do so using the Add Watermark to Photos app. We love this watermark maker app because it supports many watermark templates that are easy to edit and apply to your images. Besides, batch installation of watermarks is supported.

You can create a watermark using the large catalog of symbols and images built into the app, or choose from one of the ready-made watermarks that come with the app. With watermark templates, you can quickly edit text and color, and even upload images to use as watermarks.

When you apply a watermark, you can make it free when it’s just one watermark that you can drag and resize anywhere in the image, or you can use the tiles feature to create four watermarks all over screen. The third option is a cross, which places a watermark in the center of the photo and creates a cross in each corner for additional copy protection.

There is a lock next to some of the images in the app because you have to pay for them, but there are still many free watermarking tools available.

Watermark X (for iPhone and iPad)

Watermark X is the perfect watermark maker for iPhone and iPad because it guides you through a simple step-by-step wizard to create a watermark and then save it back to your device. No confusing or unnecessary settings arise.

To watermark an image on your iPhone or iPad using this app, select the photo that needs a watermark and then, if desired, decide whether to resize it to fit different sizes, such as 1: 1 , 3: 4 or 4: 3. Then choose a watermark design to edit colors, text, opacity and position to make it perfect.

Once completed, the watermarked photo is saved to your device, but you also have several publishing options to post to Instagram, Flickr, Twitter, and other sites.

To remove ads, make all designs available for use, and enable batch watermarking, you can pay a yearly fee to use the app.
