How To Enable Push-To-Talk On Discord.
When you join a Discord audio channel, it transmits all data from your microphone to the channel. Sometimes unnecessary noises are picked up, which can greatly annoy your friends. So, if you only want to broadcast audio when needed, you can enable the Push-to-Talk feature. It will only transmit your sound when you press the selected button. Let’s start.
How to enable push-to-talk on Discord
The push-to-talk feature does not work as expected in the website version as it should work even in the background while you are playing. Therefore, I highly recommend downloading the Discord app to your system. Open the app and click “Settings” in the lower left corner next to your username.

In the application settings, select the “Voice and video” option and in the input mode section, change the option to Push-to-talk from voice activity.
You will need to assign a hotkey in the shortcut option to access the microphone when needed. This hotkey should be a key that you can easily access while playing, and should not interfere with any options. So I can recommend choosing any character key. Better yet, choose “~” and “:”. Either way, this is your preference, so you can choose what is easy for you to access.
If you usually talk a lot, then you can select the mouse button if possible to access it effortlessly. You can use the slider on the left as a delay between releasing the button and actually mute the microphone.
Assign multiple keys
You even have the option to assign multiple Push-to-Talk keys. To do this, select the “Key bindings” option in the left settings menu.
Click the Add Key Binding button, and in the Actions tab, open the drop-down list and select PTT (Normal) or PTT (Priority) and assign a key to it. Selecting a priority will not only record your voice, but also reduce the sound from the system speakers, minimizing interference. Therefore, priority selection is the best option if you are not using headphones.
In fact, there is another option called Push to mute, which works the exact opposite, mute the microphone when a button is pressed. To turn it on, simply leave the input mode for Voice Activity in the Voice & Video settings.
Now go to Keybindings Add New Keybind, select Press to Mute in the Action tab and assign a button to it.
This method may not help stop background noise, but it can be useful to talk to someone while streaming.
Packaging
To fix the problem, you can turn on the PTT or mute functions. This feature is available on all platforms, including mobile apps.
