How To Enable Touch ID and Face ID on WhatsApp.
WhatsApp conversations are end-to-end encrypted, but what if you leave your phone unlocked? Anyone can simply track your private messages and conversations. WhatsApp has finally decided to release an update, and you can secure your conversations with Apple Touch ID on iPhone 5s and later, or Face ID on iPhone X and later. In this guide, I’ll show you how to enable Touch ID and Face ID on WhatsApp. Let’s start.
Enable Touch ID and Face ID on WhatsApp
The option to enable Touch ID and Face ID is easy to find in WhatsApp’s privacy settings. If you do not see this option yet, it means that you need to update WhatsApp to version 2.19.20.
First, open the App Store on your iPhone and go to the WhatsApp app page. You will see an update button. Click to update WhatsApp to the latest version. WhatsApp updates are rolling out gradually, and at the time of this writing, some users have not yet received their updates. The current version is 2.19.20.
After updating the app, open WhatsApp on your iPhone and tap the Settings icon in the bottom right corner. Click Account to open Account Settings.
In your account settings, click “Privacy” to open your privacy settings. You will see a list of options and at the bottom you will see “Screen Lockâ€.
Depending on the iPhone model, you’ll see different options: Touch ID works on iPhone 5s and newer, while Face ID is available on iPhone X, Xs, Xs Max, and XR. You can turn it on by sliding the toggle switch.
Your WhatsApp is now protected with Apple Touch ID and Face ID. You can customize the authentication request as you like. From the list of options, you can select “Immediately” if you don’t want anyone to track your conversations.
To see Touch ID and Face ID in action, simply close WhatsApp and restart. WhatsApp should ask you to authenticate now. In some cases, Face ID and Passcode on iPhone X-series may still require you to provide additional WhatsApp permissions, which you can do in Settings Face ID & Passcode More Apps.
