That happens. You leave your iPhone on the coffee table or iPad in the cafeteria. You are trying to find him. You are trying to find it using iCloud, but the device is disabled. You are filing a formal complaint and waiting.

But there is one more thing you must do if you lost your iPhone or iPad. You must erase your data so that even if your iPhone or iPad falls into the hands of someone, they cannot access your personal information. Luckily, your iPhone or iPad comes with built-in remote erase functionality. Here’s how to delete data from your iPhone or iPad remotely.

How does the process work

You can remotely wipe your iPhone or iPad using Find My iPhone on the iCloud website (or other device). The next time your device is turned on and connected to the Internet, it will automatically clear itself.

But for this feature to work, you need to enable Find My iPhone on your iPhone or iPad. It also includes an Activation Lock feature that ensures your iPhone or iPad cannot be reset without your Apple ID and password.

Even when you delete data from your iPhone or iPad remotely, Activation Lock remains on. Your Apple ID and password will be required to reactivate the device.

After you erase data from your iPhone or iPad, you cannot use Find iPhone to find it or use it to play sound. Apple Pay will be disabled for your iPhone, and all associated cards and accounts will be removed from the device.
