Social media is where videos are uploaded the most, and if you edit videos frequently, you most likely have uploaded them to a social media platform. Adobe Premiere allows you to export your project in several ways to make social media playback smoother and more beautiful.
You don’t need to change anything while editing. It all depends on how you export the video. Certain formats are better for social media like Instagram or Facebook than they might be for viewing your project on a widescreen screen.
Each social platform has different specifications to consider when exporting. So if you know you want to export your video to a social media platform, follow the steps below to get a high quality video that you can post without any problem.
Export videos from Premiere to Facebook
If you are thinking about posting videos to Facebook that needs to look professional, you should take a look at some of the export settings and make sure they are optimized for that platform. There are already 3 export presets available, from which you can choose or do it manually.
In particular, to post a video to Facebook, the file size must be no more than 4 GB. Try to keep the videos as short as possible, depending on what you’re trying to achieve in terms of engagement.
When you are going to export video to Premiere, the following settings are recommended:
– /
Format: H.264
Aspect ratio: 1: 1 or 16: 9 square
Resolution: 720p or 1080p
Frame rate: 30 fps or less
Also make sure you adjust the bitrate:
Bitrate encoding: VBR, 2 passes
Target bitrate: 12
Maximum bitrate: 16
If you want to publish your video directly to Facebook from Premiere, under Export Options, choose Publish> Facebook and click the checkmark. Make sure you’ve connected the correct Facebook account to Premiere by clicking the Sign In button next to Account.
Export videos from Premiere to Instagram
Uploading videos to Instagram via Premiere is a little trickier as Instagram doesn’t allow you to upload videos from your computer, and it’s not connected to Premiere. However, there is a workaround.
You will also want to keep track of the 4GB file size. Also make sure the video is no longer than 60 seconds (unless you are posting to IGTV, but these instructions are for a regular Instagram post).
First, make sure your video settings are set to the following recommended for Instagram:
Format: H.264
Aspect ratio: 1: 1 square
Resolution: 1080 x 1080
Frame rate: 30 fps or less
To post a video, make sure you have Google Drive or Dropbox installed. You can upload videos to these locations on your desktop, and then log into one of these apps on your mobile to upload the video to it.
After uploading, you can go to the Instagram app to post your video from Google Drive or Dropbox.
Export videos from Premiere to Twitter
Like other social media platforms, square videos perform best on Twitter in terms of quality. There are also two export presets for Twitter that you can use and customize as needed. The video player will also adjust according to the aspect ratio of the video if you don’t need a square video.
There are some restrictions for videos posted on Twitter: 1900 × 1200 resolution, 40 frames per second, 512 MB size, and 2:20 minutes duration.
After setting up your video, you will want to change the bitrate:
Bitrate encoding: VBR, 2 passes
Target bitrate: 8
Maximum bitrate: 12
You can upload videos in the same way as Facebook. Under Export Options, choose Publish> Twitter and select the check box. You will need to connect Premiere to your Twitter account, and then you can publish your video directly to it. Just make sure the video settings match your requirements before exporting and publishing.
Export videos from Premiere to YouTube
The most popular video sharing site is of course YouTube. The site is quite flexible about what you can upload to the site, but there are some recommended settings to keep in mind.
There are five presets you can use to export to YouTube. Depending on your project, you may want to modify some aspects to suit your needs. Set the format to H.264 as this will provide the best video quality.
You should also change your bitrate settings:
Bitrate encoding: VBR, 2 passes
Target bitrate: 8
After that, you can export and publish your video. As with Facebook and Twitter, you can automatically export videos from Premiere to YouTube. In export settings, just go to YouTube and check the box there. Then select Sign In to connect your YouTube account to Premiere.
Export from Premiere Pro to Social Media
With all these settings, if you are exporting square videos, you will need to adjust the sequence parameters according to the export settings so that you can see how the exported video will look while you edit it.
To do this:
- Go to the New Item section in the Project Panel, then select Sequence.
- In sequence presets, select Digital SLR> 1080p> DSLR 1080p24.
- Select the Settings panel and resize the frame to 1080 x 1080.
- Click OK. You can then edit these settings or move the previous sequence to a new one and apply the settings to it.
For automatic export, make sure all settings are correct before exporting. If you want to be sure, you can always export to your computer first to see what the exported video looks like. Then upload the video to your social media account from there.
