How to Fit a Whole Video on YouTube Story.
YouTube Stories is a great way for creators to connect with their audience, but YouTube only allows you to post portrait or vertically shot videos. If you try to load a video in landscape orientation, it zooms to the full screen and looks very odd, not to mention most of the clip is cut off. Although you can install a third-party app to add borders, there is an easier solution. Let’s see how to convert horizontal videos to vertical videos for YouTube Stories.
Convert Landscape Videos to Portrait for YouTube
The good thing about Stories is that they are similar on most platforms, YouTube Stories and Instagram Stories have a 15-second limit, which makes our job really easy. We would use Instagram to convert a horizontal video to a portrait video, adding padding at the top and bottom to make it look normal when uploaded to YouTube Stories.

Start by opening the Instagram app and click the camera button in the top left corner to enter the Instagram Story interface.

Click the Gallery button in the lower-left corner. This will open the saved photos and videos that you can download. Find the landscape video you want to convert and click to download the video preview.
You will see a preview in its original landscape format. Just hit the download button at the top and save the preview in the Gallery app (Photos app on iPhone) on your smartphone.

Now go back to the YouTube app, find the Stories section, and click the Create Story button to open the YouTube Stories interface. On the YouTube Stories tab, click the Gallery button in the lower-left corner to upload an existing video.
Select the video we recently saved from Instagram, it will be the first on the list and voila, you will see the video without any weird scales. Now you can publish it.

It was a quick and easy way to add padding to landscape videos to make them look normal in YouTube Stories. It’s such a small oversight, but it really gets frustrating when you just want to download a video and the app won’t let you zoom out or resize the video in the preview window. Maybe in the future?
