How To Fix Apple Watch Zoom Out & Zoom In Screen
If you have to squint to read text on your Apple Watch, we recommend using watchOS ‘hidden zoom feature. This allows you to enlarge or enlarge the content on the display of your watch. In this guide, we’ll show you how to zoom in or out on your Apple Watch display.
The steps in this article apply to all Apple Watch series / models, regardless of watchOS version.
Activate Apple Watch’s Zoom Functionality
Zoom is an accessibility feature that’s turned off by default in watchOS. Turn on this feature if you want to enlarge your Apple Watch screen.
Launch the Settings app on your Apple Watch and select Accessibility. Click Zoom under Vision. Turn on zooming.
“Zoom On” notification appears on the screen. Wait for the notification to clear and go to the next step to adjust the zoom level.
Apple allows you to adjust the magnification so that your watch’s display does not magnify beyond a certain level. Tap the Plus or Minus sign under Maximum Zoom Level to increase or decrease the setting for how you want the watch screen to appear when the display is zoomed.
You can also remotely activate the zoom function of the watch display from an iOS device (iPhone only). Make sure Apple Watch is connected to your iPhone and follow the instructions below.
Open the Clock app on iPhone, go to the My Watch tab, select Accessibility, select Zoom, and turn on Zoom.
You can now zoom in on the Apple Watch screen by double-tapping the screen with two fingers.
Drag the Maximum Zoom Level slider to the left or right to adjust the size of the clock screen when the display is zoomed.
We recommend that you enlarge your watch’s display while adjusting the zoom level – see the next section for these steps. This will give you an idea of how much your watch’s zoomed display will look at each zoom level.
Note. Enabling zoom on Apple Watch simultaneously activates this feature in the Watch app – if your watch and iPhone are paired. Therefore, you do not need to enable Zoom on your iPhone after you have done it on your watch.
Activate Zoom Using the Digital Crown
WatchOS has an Accessibility Shortcut that lets you assign a shortcut to your digital crown. Follow these steps to enable an accessibility shortcut and use the digital crown to enlarge your watch screen.
Open the Settings app on your watch, select Accessibility, click Quick Access under Other, and select Zoom.
If the watch is connected to your iPhone, open the Clock app, go to the My Watch tab and select Accessibility. Scroll down the page, select Accessibility Quick Access and select Zoom.
You now activate the Apple Watch zoom feature by triple-clicking the Digital Crown.

To enlarge the watch display, double-tap the screen with two fingers anywhere. To further enlarge the magnified display, double-tap the screen with two fingers and swipe up with both fingers. Swipe down with both fingers to zoom out.
When you zoom in on your watch display, a “Zoom Map” appears in the upper right corner of the screen. The green dot on the map shows the visible part of the enlarged image, i.e. where you are on the page.
It’s worth noting that you can scale any page on your Apple Watch, including the home screen.
To navigate the zoomed display, place two fingers on the screen and drag (both fingers) to move around the screen. This navigation method is called Panning.
You can also use the Digital Crown on your watch to navigate the enlarged display. Scroll the Digital Crown down to move the screen up, or up to move the watch display down.
To use the digital crown to scroll vertically on the enlarged display, tap the screen with two fingers. This will disable map scaling and switch to a different navigation style.

Get a Bigger and Better View
While the scaling feature is fairly easy to use and customize on the Apple Watch, we ran into several issues when scaling the display on our test device. Sometimes the zoom size did not increase even after increasing the zoom level. We were able to fix this by enabling and re-enabling the zoom feature. In some cases, we had to restart Apple Watch.
If you encounter a similar problem, re-enable scaling or restart your watch. Update Apple Watch to the latest version, or reset your watch to factory settings if the problem persists.
