How to Get Blur Mode on Skype.
Skype is the perfect service for interviews and meetings, I use it a lot when working from home, and I can’t count the number of times people have commented on the messy background. The workplace is cold and they don’t judge me, but I really hope I can just erase the background and focus on myself. Skype just announced the introduction of Blur Mode, which lets you hide the background with a soft blur, just like in portrait mode. Excellent. Let’s see how it works.

Get Blur Mode on Skype
Before we start, make sure you are using the latest version of Skype (version 8.38 or higher). Skype blur mode only works on Windows and macOS at the moment. Sorry smartphone users. If you’re not sure if you have the latest version or not, I suggest downloading it again from the Microsoft Store or Mac App Store. After installing the app, log into your Skype account and start a video call.
When you’re connected, hover your mouse over the screen so that the settings icon appears in the upper right corner, and select Sound & Video Settings.
You will see a button “Blur Background”. click on it to apply the blur effect to the live call. The effect is almost instantaneous and you can turn it on and off with a quick switch button.
Skype uses AI to apply a blur effect to your video, so the blur quality is not as good as a DSLR, but it does the job.
Alternatively, you can also find the blur mode by hovering over the video button in the Skype window. A menu will appear and you can also toggle the blur mode from here.
