How to Listen to Audible on PC (3 Unique Ways).
Listening to audiobooks is very efficient and I can do some work and listen to an audiobook at the same time. Audible works on mobile devices and requires an Amazon Prime account. There are times when I don’t have a phone nearby, but I want to hear the headline. There are several ways to reduce dependence on your phone. I recently wrote an article on how to listen to Audible on Mac and realized that we need to do the same for PC. Let’s start.
How to Listen to Audible on PC
1. Listen online
Audible has a cloud player that lets you stream your headlines online. Now it works, but the functions are not the same as the app. I had so many errors during playback. Sometimes the player would not load or would start from the very beginning. This should only be possible when you have no other choice.
To get started, log into your Amazon account on PC, select a title from the library. The player will load in a new pop-up tab, make sure it is not locked.
Pros:
- You can stream, download, add bookmarks.
- Change the playback speed.
Cons:
- Cloud player sometimes crashes.
- Does not sync position and bookmarks.
2. Use the Window 10 app
Now, if you have Windows 10, Audible is available in the Microsoft Store (sorry Mac users) and you can use it to listen to audiobooks instead.
Downloading Audible for Windows 10 is easy. Click Start and go to the Microsoft Store. Find “Audible” and click Get. You can also click on this direct link.
Start Audible and you will see the login page. Enter your Amazon or Audible login credentials and you’re signed in.
Now you can search for your headings in the library or download new ones.
Pros
- Easy to use user interface.
- Change playback speed, sleep timer, bookmarks, etc.
- Purchase audiobooks from the app.
- An additional tool called Send Book
Cons
- Only available for Windows 10 and Windows 8.
- Error search functionality.

3. Use the Android Emulator
If you don’t have Windows 10/8 on your PC, there are even better workarounds. For example, we can emulate an Android application using an emulator. There are many free emulators available for your PC that you can use to run Audible. I am going to use the Nox emulator, it is free and does the job.
Go to the Nox official website and click the download button. The file size is 384 MB, so the download won’t take long. When finished, set the setting
You can install apps from the Google Play Store just like on your Android smartphone, or you can download the apk file from a web browser to Nox and then install it. I prefer the second method as it is more convenient.
On the main screen of Nox Player you should see a browser, click on it, go to Google and search for Audible apk for Android . In the search results, you should see a link from the Apk mirror, click on it. Alternatively, you can use this link.
You have successfully installed the Audible smartphone app on your Mac. Since it is optimized for the phone screen, it will switch to a vertical view. Log in to your Amazon account and you will need all your purchased audiobooks in the library section because the user interface is intuitive and you get all options like playback speed control, sleep timer, easily switch to chapters.
Log in to your Amazon account and you’re done. You can also listen to Audible channels
Pros:
- Works with any version of Windows
- Audio channels
Cons:
- Performance is a bit slow
There is another workaround if you want to listen to audiobooks on your MP3 player or old iPod. You will need to extract the files by pasting the following command in the Run dialog box.
C: Users NAME AppData Local Packages AudibleInc.AudibleforWindowsPhone_xns73kv1ymhp2 LocalState Content
The only problem is that you have to find a way to convert aax files to mp3 first. OpenAudible is open source software that does just that . This is usually useful if you have an old iPad without the Audible app. Installation is simple, after installation, just import the aax file and the conversion process starts when you click on the audiobook.
