How to Manage the Home Screen in iOS 15.

The iPhone home screen can quickly get out of hand. Fortunately, there are several ways to clean up the chaos. You can move apps and widgets, put apps in folders, stack widgets on top of each other, etc.

iOS 14 even introduced the ability to hide entire home screen pages, and the introduction of the App Library meant you could finally uninstall apps without deleting them.

How to Manage the Home Screen in iOS 15

If you’ve just updated to iOS 15 or later, you will find additional ways to control the iPhone home screen on iOS. You will learn more about them below.

Delete iOS 15 Home Screen Pages

Do you have multiple home screen pages on your iPhone filled with apps you hardly use? If you are using an iPhone with iOS 15 or later installed, you can uninstall them easily.

Note. Deleting an iOS home page will not uninstall apps on that page. You can keep opening them through the Application Library or Spotlight.

Start by going into wiggle mode. Press and hold an empty space on the home screen, or press and hold an icon to do so. In wiggle mode, tap the dots bar (which represents the number of Home screen pages) at the top of the iPhone screen. Doc. A screen should appear showing all of the home screen pages on the iPhone in thumbnail format. To remove a home screen page, first uncheck the circle below it. Tap the Minus sign in the upper left corner of the thumbnail. Click Delete to delete the page. Click Finish to save your changes.

You can repeat the instructions above to delete all home screen pages. iOS will force you to leave at least one page unchanged, so you can’t turn off the home screen completely.

Rearrange Home Screen Pages

Ever wanted to be able to simply change the order in which each home screen page appears on your iPhone? You can do this from your iOS 15 home screen.

Again, wiggle the home screen and tap the bar above the dock to view the home screen pages in thumbnail format. Then hold and drag each page in the order you want them to appear.

For example, you might have the first page filled with unused standard apps as the last, and your last page as the first. Click Finish to save your changes.

Filter Pages Using Focus Mode

IOS 15 introduces an improved version of Do Not Disturb mode called Focus. Instead of blocking all notifications, it supports the ability to skip notifications from specific apps and contacts. For example, you can use a work profile to turn off notifications from non-essential apps, but allow those that are vital to your workflow.

But a relatively hidden feature of Focus is its ability to display certain home screen pages only when a profile is active. To do this, you must edit the profile by following these steps.

Open the Settings app and tap Focus. Select a profile to start editing it. Under Options, click Home.

Then turn on the toggle next to Custom Pages. Select the exact page or pages that you want to see with an active profile. Click Finish to save your changes and return.

The main editing screen also has additional options, such as automating the profile on a schedule or using automation triggers. Make the necessary settings and exit the screen.

To manually activate a profile, open the iPhone Control Center and tap the Do Not Disturb icon. After that, only the home screen page or pages that you specified earlier should appear.

Besides the presets (work, personal, driving, etc.), you can also create new Focus profiles from scratch. To do this, go to Settings> Focus and click the Add icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

Install to App Library Only

Install to App Library only is a feature in iOS 14, but worth repeating. If you tend to install and experiment with many applications, you can avoid cluttering your home screen in the future by installing them directly into your application library.

To do this, open the Settings app and tap Home Screen. In the “Recently downloaded apps” section, select “App Library Only”.

If you want to return to showing installed apps on your Home screen, go to Settings> Home Screen and select Add to Home Screen.

Keep the iOS 15 Home Screen Tidy

Effectively managing your iOS 15 home screen can go a long way towards improving the user experience on iPhone. The settings in iOS 15 should provide even more control, and hopefully future iterations of system software will make the organization even better.

If you’re having trouble following the instructions above, update your iPhone.
