This means that using your electrical appliances, such as AC or television, during these peak hours will cost more.
In comparison, users with a permitted load of less than 5 kW have tariffs for paid services. For the 100 units used, the unit rate is 5.79 rupees, which increases to 8.11 rupees per unit for the next 100 units. For each unit used in the range from 201 to 300, users will have to pay 10.20 rupees. Gepco will charge consumers Rs 17.60 for using 301-700 units. The unit price for more than 700 units is the same as the peak cost of hours for consumers with an “authorized load†of five kilowatts or more.

The Department of Energy announced these new tariff conditions in a May 22 notice stating that the new tariffs for GEPCO consumers are consistent with end-user tariffs charged in accordance with the unified tariff policy throughout Pakistan. He explained that tariffs for residential customers who use only 300 units have not been increased. But that doesn’t mean much – five 24 W bulbs and an 80 W fan consume 200 W, which is about 12 units per day.

The energy company says it is introducing this new ToU tariff to “increase public awareness of energy conservation during peak hours.” But consumers are not so satisfied with this illustrious awareness-raising campaign.
This is because at this time everyone is at home – the children are returning home from school, and the parents are returning from work.
On average, an 80 W fan consumes 4 units of electricity per day, while a TV consumes about 3 units per day. Similarly, a 24 W energy-saving device uses 1-2 devices per day.
Heavier appliances, such as one ton of alternating current, consume about 18 units if they work 24 hours in a row. The refrigerator consumes about 4-6 units, depending on the size and age of your appliance.Instead of turning on five energy-saving devices, try to cope with four and save about 40-45 units per month. Similarly, by not using AC during peak hours, you can save some more money.
