How to Share an iCloud Calendar on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Sharing your calendar is a great way to keep everyone up to date. It benefits families with dental visits, football practice, school events and social activities. All family members can keep up to date with the latest events.
Anyone using an Apple device and sharing a calendar can see what’s happening on any device using sync. We’ll show you how to share your iCloud calendar on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and iCloud.com, as well as show you the settings you can change.
How to Share an iCloud Calendar
You can share an existing iCloud calendar or create a new calendar specifically for sharing if you prefer. You can’t currently share your calendar with other accounts synced with the Apple Calendar app, such as Google Calendar, Yahoo, or Exchange.
Sharing on iPhone and iPad
Open the Calendar app on your iPhone or iPad.Select Calendars to display a list of calendars. On an iPad, it’s the icon in the upper left corner.Tap the Info icon to the right of the calendar you want to share.In the Available section, select Add User.
Enter the person’s name or email address, or use the plus sign to select from your contacts. You can add multiple people at the same time.Click Add and then Done.
You will then see the person’s name in the Edit Calendar window, the word “Pending” is displayed below their name, which will disappear once they accept your invitation.
Sharing on Mac
Open the Calendar app on your Mac.Select the Calendar icon at the top left to display a list of calendars.Select the Contact icon that appears to the right of the calendar, or choose Edit > ” Share Calendar in Edit > Share Calendar. Menu bar.In the “Share with” section of the pop-up window, enter the person’s name and select from the suggestions that appear. Do the same to add more people.
You will see the person’s email address displayed in the field. A question mark appears next to their name until they accept the invitation. Once accepted, the question mark is replaced by a check mark.

Visit iCloud.com, sign in with your Apple ID, and select Calendar.Select the Share Calendar icon to the right of the calendar name on the left side.Check the Private Calendar box. Enter a person’s name in the “Add Person” field and select from the options provided. Do the same to add another person.Click OK.
Just like on a Mac, you’ll see a question mark next to the person’s name while their invitation is pending.
Adjust the Sharing Permissions
You have two ways to share your iCloud calendar: view/edit or view only. You can choose one of the options the first time you share your calendar, or later.
Permissions on iPhone and iPad
Open the Calendar app and access the list of calendars.Tap the Info icon to the right of the calendar.Under “Available” you’ll see the names and current permissions of who you’ve shared the calendar with. s, whether they have accepted yet or not. Select a person.To allow viewing and editing, turn on the Allow editing switch.To allow viewing only, turn off the Allow editing switch.
Mac Permissions
Open the Calendar app and access the list of calendars.Select a calendar and use the contact icon on the right, or Edit > Share Settings in the menu bar.Select a person and use the drop-down arrow to right to your name to display permissions.Choose View Only or View and Edit.

Visit iCloud.com and open Calendar.Select the Share Calendar icon to the right of the calendar name on the left.Select a person and use the drop-down arrow to the right of their name to display permissions.Select ” View Only” or “View and Edit” and click OK.
Change Notifications for a Shared Calendar
The way you change the notifications and alerts you receive for a shared iCloud calendar varies by device. If you want to stop receiving alerts, you can do so on iPhone and iPad, but if you want to limit the number of alerts, you have options on Mac and iCloud.com.
Notifications on iPhone and iPad
Open the Calendar app and access the list of calendars.Tap the Info icon to the right of the calendar.Turn off the toggle for event notifications and tap Done.
Notifications on Mac
On a Mac, you can change notifications at the account level, not at the calendar level. However, you have the option to stop seeing shared calendar messages in the Notification Center.
Open the Calendar app and select Calendar > Preferences from the menu bar.Click on the Alerts tab in the window that appears.Uncheck “Show general calendar messages in Action Center” at the bottom.< /li>
Optionally, you can set up alerts for all iCloud calendars using the settings at the top. You can also apply these settings only to your Mac.
Notifications on iCloud.com
Notifications for Calendar on iCloud.com are also a bit limited, but you have a few options.
Visit iCloud.com and open Calendar.Use the gear icon at the bottom left to open the Actions menu and select Settings.Under the General tab, uncheck the Alerts section at the bottom . This will prevent default notifications from being added to new calendar events. Note that this applies to all calendars in your iCloud account. On the Advanced tab, uncheck the Event Updates section to stop receiving shared calendar update emails. Keep in mind that this will apply to all shared iCloud calendars.Click Save at the bottom to apply the changes.
Stop Sharing iCloud Calendar
Removing someone from your iCloud calendar is an easy way to stop sharing. On Mac and iCloud.com, you can also immediately stop sharing your calendar with everyone.
Stop sharing on iPhone and iPad
Open the Calendar app and access your calendar list.Tap the Info icon to the right of the calendar.In the Available section, select the person’s name.Select Store Sharing and confirm with Delete.
Stop Sharing on Mac
Open the Calendar app and access the list of calendars.Select a calendar and click the Contact icon on the right.Select a person and press the Delete key.
In addition, you can stop calendar sharing from everyone at the same time. Select the calendar and go to Edit > Stop Sharing from the menu bar. Confirm by selecting “Close Sharing” in the pop-up window.
Stop sharing on iCloud.com
Visit iCloud.com and open Calendar.Select the Share Calendar icon to the right of the calendar name.Select a person and use the drop-down arrow to select Delete User.< /ol>
To prevent the calendar from being shared with everyone, deselect the Private Calendar (or Shared Calendar) check box. Click OK, and then select Stop Sharing from the pop-up window.
Use a Public Calendar
Another view-only calendar sharing option that is useful for displaying events such as work or school schedules or organization events for iCloud is to create a public calendar.
Public calendar on iPhone and iPad
Open the Calendar app and access your calendar list.Tap the Info icon to the right of the calendar.Turn on the Shared Calendar toggle at the bottom.To send the link using Share Sheet, tap “Share Link” and select an option.
Follow the same steps, turn off the “Open Calendar” toggle and click “Done” to stop sharing your calendar.
Shared Calendar on Mac
Open the Calendar app and access the list of calendars.Select a calendar and click the Contact icon on the right.Check the “Shared Calendar” box.Use the “Share” button next to the link to Share the link using the Share menu on Mac.
To stop calendar sharing, follow the same steps to uncheck Public Calendar and select Done.
Shared Calendar on iCloud.com
Visit iCloud.com and open Calendar.Select the Share Calendar icon to the right of the calendar name.Select the Shared Calendar checkbox.Select the Email or Copy Link link » under the calendar. URL to send link.
To stop sharing your calendar, follow the same steps to uncheck “Open Calendar” and confirm the action by clicking “Turn off sharing”.
Sharing calendars has many benefits. You can see the other person’s work schedule and allow them to see theirs, check upcoming appointments, and plan activities together.
