How to Solve an Error Occurred Please Try Again Later on YouTube.

YouTube is the second largest search engine in the world and the most visited video hosting site. This is a dastardly feat. We visit YouTube from time to time to watch videos on a variety of topics, but sometimes things don’t go according to plan. Many users complain that when they land on the YouTube video page, the video doesn’t load. Instead, they receive the message “An error occurred, please try again later.”

It can be frustrating, especially when you’re really looking forward to the trailer for the new ending, or maybe something more rewarding! In any case, there are several ways to solve this error, from simple to more complex.

Now, before we get started, it’s advised to check if YouTube’s servers are down. This rarely happens, but there are times when it does. The obvious way to check if YouTube is down is to go to Twitter and search on the YouTube hashtag. Alternatively, you can use sites like DownForEveryoneOrJustMe.

Let’s start.

Fix – An error occurred, please try again later on YouTube

1. Refresh (F5)

It’s too easy, but it can fix many errors on websites, including YouTube errors. Please try again later. Press the F5 key on your keyboard to refresh the page and see if the video is loading or not.

2. Minimum requirements

YouTube is a video hosting site, so high speed internet is required to download videos. Maybe you don’t have enough bandwidth in your plan, or maybe things are going slowly? To check, go to SpeedTest to run a check. If the internet is slower than you are paying, there is no checkpoint. 3. Google recommends that a minimum internet speed of 500 Kbps is required to view YouTube videos. Live streaming requires 1 Mbps. This limit increases to at least 4 Mbps when watching HD video. Make sure you meet the requirements.

3. Restart the router

It is possible that your network settings have been changed, which will change your dynamic IP settings. Reboot your router to change the settings. This is often recommended by my ISP as the number one solution for all slow internet connection problems. You can do this by opening the address of your ISP 192.168.1.1, or simply turning off the router for at least 30 seconds and starting it up again.

If your DNS was provided and installed automatically by your ISP, it may be causing a conflict, as reported by several users. To resolve this issue, use Google’s public DNS settings. Note that I’m talking about a reboot, not a reset. You don’t want to do this later.

Here’s how to change DNS on almost any operating system.

You can also try clearing the cached DNS data at this point to make sure the old data isn’t getting in the way. To do this, open a command prompt with administrator rights and enter this command “ipconfig / flushdns” without quotes before pressing Enter.

4. Clear the cache

If YouTube is running in other browsers on the same computer, then cache may be the cause.

Here’s a neat trick to fix it. Press the Shift key before reloading the YouTube page. This will bypass the cache stored in your browser, forcing it to re-download the necessary files. If that solves the problem, then you know the cache files are to blame. Depending on which browser you are using, there is a way in the settings to clear cache and temporary files.

To perform a hard reboot in Google Chrome, press Ctrl + Shift + J to “Open Developer Tools” in Windows or Cmd + Opt + I on Mac, then right-click on the refresh icon and select “Clear cache and hard reboot.”

5. Use headphones

Many users who encountered this problem returned and reported that they had found a rather unusual solution. It looks like the headphone connection is working for some reason and not Bluetooth. Try using headphones with a 3.5mm jack and see if that works.

6. Disable hardware acceleration

Hardware acceleration, a feature of your browser, can cause problems with YouTube. Open Chrome and go to Settings. Under Settings, click Advanced and scroll a little more to find the System heading. You can turn off hardware acceleration here.

7. Update the audio drivers

Headphones first, and then this. In any case, there are several ways to update your audio drivers. You can visit Microsoft Driver Center and locate them manually, then install them after downloading. There is another way. Just open the device manager on your computer, select your sound card, right-click on it and choose Update Drivers.

There are some third party tools available on the market that can also search and install the latest drivers for Windows 10.

8. The advertisement issue

Google is an ad-driven company. Almost all products offered by Google are free. In return, they share your data with advertisers and make money. If you are using an ad blocker like Adblock or Ublock, try disabling it. Wait, that’s not all.

9. Corrupt browser files

Have you tried using a different browser to open the same YouTube page? It works? If so, something is wrong with your browser files. Maybe they are corrupt. Uninstall your browser and reinstall it again to fix this problem. Before reinstalling, make sure you remove any leftover files from drive C or from where you had your browser installed. To do this, open File Explorer by pressing Windows Key + E on your keyboard, right-click on “Quick Access” and select “Options.”

10. HTML5 vs Flash

Flash is being phased out and will be phased out by 2020. While most browsers have removed Flash or Shockwave Flash from the equation in favor of lighter, faster, and more advanced HTML5, there are still cases where it is not supported by default.

Not many people know about this, but YouTube has a hidden option with which you can control your HTML5 settings along with other video and audio elements. Visit this URL and make sure the HTML option is enabled. This will force your browser and YouTube to use HTML5 instead of Flash whenever possible.

Open the video you are trying to view, click the Settings icon, and under Quality, select a video resolution less than 720p. Refresh the page once and see if you can view it without errors.

12. Turn off Bitdefender

Many TW users reported that Bitdefender was responsible for this bug and that fixing or disabling it fixed the issue. If you are using Bitdefender Antivirus, turn it off first to see if it fixes the error, and if so, you know the culprit. Get a new antivirus or do a clean install of bitdefender as we did with Chrome in step 9. Uninstall it from Control Panel, delete the remaining files from the AppData folder and reinstall by downloading it from the official site.
