Since Google Calendar is a very popular online calendar, you might think that Microsoft Outlook for Windows would make syncing easier.
Unfortunately, there is no easy way to sync Google Calendar with Outlook. However, there are some workarounds and third party solutions.
Subscribe to Google Calendar in Outlook
This method provides a read-only version of Google Calendar in your Outlook calendar.
You won’t be able to create, delete, or modify events from Google Calendar in Outlook. While not ideal, you can still view all of your events and meetings in one place.
- First, open Google Calendar and hover over the calendar you want to add to Outlook.
- Click the three dots next to the calendar name and select the Settings & Sharing option.
- Search for “Integrate Calendar” under Settings and Sharing. You will need to scroll down the page to find it.
- Find the secret address in iCal format in the “Integrate calendar” section and copy the URL.
- Open Outlook and go to the calendar section. Click the drop-down arrow next to the Add button at the top of the navigation and select From Web.
- Paste the secret address in the iCal format URL you copied above in the space provided (see screenshot below) and click OK.
- If you have multiple Google calendars, repeat the above process. You should now be able to see all your events and meetings in your Outlook calendar.
But remember, this is for viewing only. You won’t be able to edit Google Events in Outlook.
Use G-Suite to Sync Google Calendar to Outlook
If you pay for G-Suite and use it, there is another way to sync your calendars. G-Suite Sync for Microsoft Outlook is designed to make it easy to sync Outlook Google Calendar. What’s more, it also syncs your contacts and email.

- Close Outlook and download the G-Suite Sync tool After downloading the tool, enter the email address of the Google account you want to sync and click Continue.
- When prompted, grant permission to access your data.
- Customize the options suggested by the tool. Be sure to enable Import data from an existing profile so that the information in your Outlook account is imported into Google Calendars.
- Click Create Profile to sync your calendars. Now you will be able to add a new event in Outlook and it will be added to your Google Calendar and vice versa.
Use the Companion Tool
To get started, go to companionlink.com, click Downloads, and select the 14-day free trial at the top of the home page. You don’t need to provide any billing information for the trial.
- Scroll down to CompanionLink for Google and click Download Trial.
- Enter your information on the form and press the green button to download the software.
- Run the installer, follow the instructions on the screen and click Install.
The installer will place an icon on your desktop on your computer.
- Double-click the icon to open the application, and then click Settings.
- Grant Google permission to read CompanionLink data by clicking Allow and then OK. A popup will ask you if you want to sync. Click Yes.
- When the sync process is complete, check your Google calendar. You will see that your data has been synced.
CompanionLink will run in the background and will continue to track changes in Outlook and Google. For example, if you edit an appointment in Outlook and move it to another day, the same change will appear in your Google calendar.
How to sync Google Calendar with Outlook on your Android device
Microsoft Outlook for Android allows users to connect all their email accounts and calendars from one mailbox.
It works with Office 365, Gmail, Yahoo Mail, and Microsoft Exchange. Go to the Google Play Store, download and install the free Microsoft Outlook app
After installing the app on your device, a pop-up message appears asking if you want to link to a different account. Select Gmail and your calendars will sync.
Sync Outlook.com with Google Calendar on iPhone and iPad
The iPad and iPhone calendar app can display combined Outlook and Google Calendar. On your device, go to Settings> Mail> Contacts> Calendars and tap Add Account.
Add your Outlook.com account and Google calendar, and then accept the sync offer.
SyncGene
SyncGene is a third-party service for syncing contacts, tasks, and calendars across iPhone, Outlook, Android, and Gmail.
Three versions are available. The free version offers:
- Synchronization of up to two data sources.
- One manual sync every 30 days.
- Sharing one calendar.
However, the free version does not provide auto-sync. The next tier is very reasonably priced at $ 9.95 per month and includes:
- Synchronization of up to five data sources.
- Unlimited manual syncs.
- Auto-sync is enabled.
- Share an unlimited number of calendars.
- Create public links for sharing.
OggSync
OggSync supports the latest technologies from Microsoft and Google. It costs $ 29.95 per year.
Besides syncing Outlook with Google Calendar, it fixes sync issues when Google makes changes.
Sync2
Sync 2 will not only sync Google Calendar with Outlook, but will also sync on schedule or when changes are detected.
Outlook4GMail
Outlook4Gmail is another tool to sync your Google calendars and contacts with Outlook. The free version allows you to sync contacts and supports basic filter settings.
However, it does not provide additional support from the development team.
