hen proving to others that you’re really good at them can put you one step ahead of the rest. LinkedIn Skill Assessments allow you to show proof of your skills. In this article, we’ll explain what these grades are, and how to get them and use them in your profile.

What Are LinkedIn Skill Assessments?

On your LinkedIn profile, in the Skills section, you can list your best skill sets. Soft skills are traits that are difficult to accurately measure but that make you a good employee, such as communication, organization, and problem solving. In contrast, hard skills are abilities that can be measured. For example, skills such as using Office applications, programming, or driving a forklift.

After you list some skills, other people can also give you their approval.

If you’re trying to show off your technical knowledge, LinkedIn provides a skills assessment feature that you can use to ask you questions about these programs. If you work in fields related to computer science, you can find many evaluations such as CSS, Java and Javascript, Python, HTML, Linux, machine learning and more.

The quiz itself includes 15 multiple-choice questions, and each question has a time limit. If you are in the top 30% of people who take the test after passing the test, you will be able to earn a badge that will appear on your profile. This can be seen by anyone viewing your profile if you choose to display it.

If you don’t pass the skills assessment, don’t worry; you can retake any skill assessment. This can be a great opportunity to brush up on your knowledge. Your specific results will also not be shown to anyone else.

How to Take LinkedIn Skill Assessments

Taking the Skills Assessment is easy, free, and you can get your results as soon as you complete the test. You can get them directly on LinkedIn by doing the following:

Click on your profile picture in the top right corner and select View Profile.

Scroll down to the Skills section of your profile. In the upper right corner, click the button that says Pass Skill Test.

If you know you want to be assessed, you can find it in the box in the top right corner. Or you can browse the Industry Knowledge or Tools & Technology sections.

Once you’ve found a theme, click on it to go to the rating page.

You can find the specific details of the assessment here, as well as the rules for passing it successfully. At the bottom there are “Practice” or “Start Assessment” buttons.

If you want to know what the test is like and prepare, select Practice. Here you can try two questions without affecting your score and then check your answers.

To take the real test, select Start. You can also start the quiz right after completing the trial quiz.

Keep in mind that if you leave the quiz at any time, you will lose all your progress and you will have to start over.

Whether or not you pass Linkedin assessments, you don’t have to share your scores if you don’t want to. Below, we’ll outline what you should do in each case to best boost your LinkedIn profile.

What to Do If You Donâ€™t PassÂ

If you are not in the top 30%, LinkedIn will let you know that they have opened Linkedin Learning courses for you related to that particular skill. This can be a good way to brush up on your knowledge and it will be available within 24 hours of its launch. However, you can also check out YouTube or practice your particular skill.

Once you feel like you’re getting better at it, you can go back to LinkedIn and go back to the skill assessment page.

On the right side of the screen, you’ll see a sidebar labeled “Your Grades” that lists the number of badges you’ve earned as well as the number of grades you need to retake. Click on the “Retake” number to quickly jump to the skill assessment.

Find the skill you want to retake the test for and click the “Retake” button on the right.

At the bottom of the page, select Start.

It is better to wait a bit until you are sure that you are well versed in your skills in order to retake the test. Also, if you are not sure about the answer to a question, the best and fastest way to guess the correct answer is to use the elimination process.

What to Do If You Pass

If you are in the top 30%, well done! You will receive the skill badge via LinkedIn. Next to the text “Show badge on profile and when looking for a recruiter,” make sure the toggle is on. This way, your profile, and especially the Skills section, will look much more impressive.

Also, when recruiters are looking for candidates on LinkedIn, if they have a filter to find people who have passed a certain skills assessment, you are sure to find yourself!

If you scroll down the page, you can click the Post Results button to create a post showing that you earned a badge in that skill. You don’t have to do this, as the badge will still appear on your profile. However, if you want your results to be visible, it doesn’t hurt to publish it.
