Most Android app developers publish regular updates that introduce new features, performance improvements, and bug fixes. The latest versions of applications also improve the stability and security of the device, so installing them is a must.

You can update Android apps by accessing the built-in Google Play store. However, in some cases, you may have to rely on alternative methods to update Android apps.

Update Manually via Google Play Store

You can manually update individual apps on your Android device through the Google Play Store. For this:

1. Find and tap the Google Play icon on the Android home screen.

2. Find the app you want to update, such as Chrome, and select it from the search results.

3. Click the Refresh button. If there are no pending updates for the application, you will see an Open button instead.

1. Tap your profile picture next to the Google Play Store search box.

2. Click Manage apps and devices.

4. Select Available updates to open a list of applications with available updates.

6. Tap the Refresh icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

Enable Auto-Updates via Google Play Store

You can also enable automatic app updates through the Google Play Store. For this:

1. Tap your profile picture in the Google Play Store app.

2. Select Settings.

4. Select Via any networkor Via Wi-Fi only. Choose the last option if you don’t want to avoid excessive cellular data usage.

5. Click Done.

Update the Google Play Store

If you’re having trouble downloading or updating apps on Android, you can update the Google Play Store. For this:

1. Tap your profile icon in the top right corner of the Google Play Store and select Settings.

3. Click the “Update Play Store” link in the “Play Store Version” section.

Update Apps From Device Specific App Stores

If you’re not using a Google Pixel or other stock Android smartphone, your phone may come pre-installed with a device-specific app store that you must use to update certain apps, such as Samsung Visit In.

Luckily, these stores behave pretty much the same as the Google Play Store. For example, in the Samsung Galaxy Store, you can:

Refresh the app manually: find the app and look for the Refresh option.

Update multiple apps. Click the menu icon and select Updates to open a list of updates. Then tap the Update icon next to any app to update it. Or click Update All to install all updates.

If you are using a third party app store like Aptoide or F-Droid on your Android smartphone, chances are you will have to use that to update most of the apps you download.

If you download the app on your Android via a web browser, you must manually download and install the latest APK whenever a new version becomes available. Or install APKUpdater and let it do the hard work for you.

1. Revisit the APK download site where you downloaded the app, such as APKMirror, and check for a newer version of the app.

1. Download and download APKUpdater by Rumboalla on your Android.

2. Open APKUpdater and navigate to the Updates tab.

You can also configure APKUpdater to install updates automatically. For this:

1. Go to the Settings tab.

2. Click Background check for updates and switch between the available periods – Daily, Weekly, Hourly, etc. – that you want APKUpater to check for new updates.

3. Click Update Hour and set the time you want APKUpdater to update your apps.
