Update Your Browser via the Google Play Store

You can get the latest version of any stock or third-party Android browser through the Google Play Store using one of the two methods described below.

Search for a browser and update

1. Open the Google Play Store app from your home screen or app drawer.

2. Enter the name of the browser you want to update, such as Google Chrome. Then press Enter and select your browser from the search results.

3. Click “Update” on the browser store page to update the current version of the application.

Updating via the list of available updates

1. Open Google Play Store, tap your profile picture in the upper right corner of the screen, and select “Manage apps and devices”.

2. Click the Manage tab. Then click “Available Updates” to open a list of all available updates for your Android device.

Check for Updates Internally in Google Chrome

Unlike other browsers for Android, you can update Google Chrome through the browser itself. For this:

1. Open Chrome.

2. Open the Chrome menu (select the icon with three dots in the upper right corner of the screen).

3. Select “Update Chrome” at the top of the Google Chrome browser menu to update the browser to the latest version. Then click Relaunch to restart Chrome.

If you don’t see “Update Chrome” in the Chrome menu, it’s likely that your browser has already been updated. However, you can confirm this with Chrome’s built-in security check. Open the Chrome menu and click “Settings” > “Security Check” to access it.

If it says you’re not using the latest version of Chrome, check your browser menu again or update it via the Google Play Store.

Set Up Automatic Browser Updates

Let’s say you want to make sure you always use the latest version of your web browser. In this case, you can tell the Google Play Store to automatically install updates as soon as they become available. You can only enable auto-refresh for your browser. Can’t Update Browser on Android? Try These Quick Fixes

If you can’t update Google Chrome or a third-party browser on your Android phone or tablet, follow these quick fixes to resolve the issue.

Restart your Android phone.

Restarting your Android smartphone resets the system cache and helps clear minor bugs and other issues that prevent you from installing updates from the Google Play Store. To restart your Android smartphone, simply press and hold the power button and press Restart.

Update the Google Play Store.
