While you can use a dedicated password manager, web browsers like Mozilla Firefox offer their own tools. Saving your passwords allows you to quickly log into stores, social networks, news sites, and more.

Here we will show you how to not only view saved Firefox passwords, but also manage them. You can view compromised passwords, edit saved ones, add exceptions for sites where you don’t want to save passwords, and export them for use in another browser or as a backup.

Note. The steps below for Firefox on desktop are applicable to both Windows and Mac.

Allow Firefox to Save Passwords

If Firefox didn’t prompt you to save your password when you entered a site, you may need to enable this feature. With it, you can use additional useful login tools.

Open Firefox, select the menu icon in the upper right corner and select “Settings”.On the “Settings” screen, select “Privacy and security” on the left.Scroll down to “Logins and passwords”.Check the first box under “Ask to save logins and passwords for websites”.You can then check additional boxes if you want Firefox to automatically fill in your login details, suggest strong passwords, and show web hijacking alerts. sites.

On Android, press the Menu button and select Settings. Select Logins and Passwords, select Save Logins and Passwords, and select Ask to Save.

Now, when you enter a username and password on a website, you will see a prompt from Firefox asking if you want to store this information. If you select Save, your data will be saved. If you select “Don’t save”, no data will be saved and the website will be included in the list of exceptions.

The exclusion list is handy for sites like financial institutions or PayPal where you prefer to enter your password each time rather than saving it in Firefox.

You can view, edit and add exclusions in the same settings area where you enabled the save password feature.

Select Exceptions under Logins and Passwords.You will see a list of sites where Firefox does not save your passwords.

1 – To add a site, enter the URL in the field at the top and select “Block”.

2 – To remove a site, select it from the list and click Remove Site.

3 – To clear the list, select Remove All Websites.Select Save Changes at the bottom when done.

You can also view your exclusions in Firefox on Android. Open the “Logins and passwords” section in the settings and select “Exclusions”.

You can view saved Firefox passwords in Settings in two different ways.

Open Settings, go to Logins & Passwords and select Saved Logins.Open the Firefox menu in the top right corner and select Passwords .

Note. If you have set a master password (formerly a master password), you will be prompted to enter it before viewing your passwords.

You’ll see all your logins listed on the left, and the details for the one you choose on the right.

You may also see icons next to the website login. In the examples below, hacked websites and vulnerable passwords give you an indicator so you can take action.

Note. To view passwords on a mobile device, you may be asked to enter a password, fingerprint, or facial ID.

Sort or Search Passwords

Once you have access to your saved passwords in Firefox, you can sort or search to find what you need.

At the top left, use the dropdown next to Sort by to view passwords alphabetically by site name or username, last used or modified, or warnings.

To find the login details for a specific site, enter a keyword in the “Search for logins” field at the top of the password page.

On Android, tap the magnifying glass to search, or the arrow to sort by name or last used.

On iPhone, enter a word or phrase in the Filter field at the top.

Change Saved Passwords

If you visit a website and change your password in Firefox, you will be prompted to update your saved password. This is a good way to keep saved passwords up to date.

But if you change your password elsewhere, such as using a different web browser or mobile device, you can also change your saved Firefox password manually.

Select a website on the left, and then select Edit for that site’s login details on the right. Enter your updated username, new password, or both, and then select Save Changes.

Another way to change your password is to select a website link directly from the Firefox Saved Passwords page. Change your password on the website, then accept it when Firefox asks you to update your saved password.

On Android, select a username from the list, tap the three dots, and select Edit. Make your changes and tap the check mark.

Note. Android does not allow you to take screenshots for a specific Firefox app login.

On an iPhone, select a login from the list, tap Edit, and make changes. When you’re done, select Done.

Delete Saved Passwords

To remove a login, such as a site you no longer visit, select it from the list on the left and click Remove on the right. Confirm the deletion by selecting Delete again.

On Android, select a username from the list, tap the three dots, and select Delete. Confirm by clicking “Delete” again in the pop-up window.

Note. Android does not allow you to take screenshots for a specific Firefox app login.

Export Firefox Saved Passwords

Whether you want to import passwords saved in Firefox into another web browser, or just keep a backup of them, it’s easy to do.

On the saved passwords page, select the three dots in the upper right corner and select Export Logins.

You will see a message that your login information will be in a human-readable format. This should be kept in mind depending on what you plan to do with the file. Select Export to continue.

When prompted, enter your computer username and password.Select a location for the file and select Export.

The file must be saved in CSV format. You can then open the file or import it into another browser.

Whether you want to review your saved passwords, check if they need to be changed due to a security breach, or delete ones you no longer use, you can easily manage your saved Firefox passwords on your desktop and mobile device.
