What do Alexa, Siri, Cortana and Google Assistant have in common? They all exist to make your life easier as AI-powered personal assistants. Google Assistant is built into smartphones, smart speakers and smart home devices. It puts the knowledge base and Google search function in the hands of the owner of the Google device.
Many devices have built-in Google Assistant and built-in microphones so that users can do various things like order food, call a friend, or check the weather.
There are so many Google Assistant tips to help you that you might not be aware of.
Find your phone
How often do you lose your phone? If you are like most people, the answer is very frequent. It is especially frustrating when you are at home but do not know where he is.
If your phone is running Android 4.0 or later, you will have access to Find My Device. To install it, search for “Find my device” in the Google Play store.
Select the first search result, click on it and click the green “Install” button. After installation from your Google account, log into your Find My Device by following these steps:
- From the app drawer or home screen, open Find Device.
- If you have multiple Google accounts, select the one you want to use.
- Click Continue.
- Enter your Google account password.
- Click Sign In.
- Give the service location access.
To link your Google account:
- Open the Google Home app.
- Click Settings.
- Scroll to find Google Assistant.
- Click More> Assistant> Voice Match Add Devices.
- Make sure your device is listed and selected.
- Click Continue> Next> I Agree.
- Make sure Personal Results is turned on.
- Accept the terms and set up Voice Match
To find your phone, say, “Ok Google, give me a call.” Google Assistant will ask you which phone you want to call and will call the one you choose.
Make Holiday List
Holidays can be stressful, but with Google Assistant, you can create and manage lists and notes in Bring, Any.do, and Google Keep.
Connect the Assistant to the application of your choice. Select the Services tab in the Google Assistant settings and select the provider you want in the Notes & Lists section.
Set reminders
When doing so many things every day, it’s easy to forget something important. Google Assistant will remind you of this.
Set yourself reminders by location, date, day and time. First, turn on Personal Results in the Home app.
You will then need to set up Voice Match in the Assistant’s settings panel for your voice to be recognized.
Using the reminder function is as easy as talking to your device. For example, you might say, “Ok Google, remind me to take the antibiotic at 7:00 pm.”
Your assistant will inform you that he has sent the requested reminder.
Check your calls
Don’t want to receive annoying calls from telemarketers? Google Assistant can display your calls for you.
The latest Pixel phones come with a call screen feature that allows an Assistant to answer your call.
This feature is currently only available on Google Pixel phones. When your assistant answers the call on your behalf, they will provide you with a real-time transcript.
This way, you can decide if you want more information, answer a call, or inform the caller that you are not available.
It is not necessary to enable this feature as it is enabled by default. When your phone rings, you will see not only the standard call interface but also a new screen call button.
To use this feature, press the screen call button for Google Assistant to respond. The subscriber will be informed that he is contacting the verification service and will be asked what is the reason for his call.
You will see the response in text message format and can you accept the call or not.
Where should you eat, drink, or go dance?
Need ideas where to go? Ask Google Assistant for a few suggestions. Your assistant will respond with a list of restaurants near you, including their star ratings.
For more information about any restaurant, click on it to see its address, directions and call link.
Get News
Google is keeping an eye on trends in digital audio and podcasting with its new Your News Update. To use it, you need to update the News Assistant settings.
Go to Assistant settings> News Update> You> News. Here you can change the format of the news playlist.
To receive news, say “ Ok Google, tell me the news â€, or you can add news to another subroutine of the Assistant.
When you ask Google to play the news for you, the update will begin with a set of news selected for you based on your location, interests, preferences, and history.
Send Text
Typing can take a long time. Send a text message using Google Assistant without lifting your finger. Just tell your device that you want to send text.
What is the contact’s name and your message. When you’re done speaking, watch it on the screen.
With the help of Google Assistant, you will be able to edit your message in case of an error. If yes, tell me, send.
Get answers to your questions
Ask your assistant any question, no matter how unclear. Start by asking, “ Ok Google, how far is the Moon from Earth ?”
Google will verbally answer “ this is what I found †and then list the sources. In some cases, he will read the information to you and then inform the source.
Buy movie tickets
You no longer need to stand in line if you want to watch a movie. Ask Google: “ What movies are coming next to me this weekend
[buy tickets]
When you choose theater, movie, day and time, you will be given the option to buy tickets through Google Assistant through numerous ticketing services such as AMC, Fandango, and MovieTickets.com.
Your Assistant will open the Chrome browser and guide you through the purchase process.
Set alarm
You don’t need an alarm if you have a personal Google assistant. Tell the Google Assistant, “ Wake me up at 8 am , and he’ll be there.
Do you want to wake up to a song or artist instead of a boring alarm? Tell the Assistant to wake you up to a tune you like.
There are even more. You can use Google routines to set an alarm that will trigger other actions such as turning on the lights after you wake up.
To use out-of-the-box routines:
- Open the Google Home app and click Settings.
- Find Google Assistant.
- Click Advanced Settings> Assistant> Procedures.
