What Is DashPass?

Posted on May 5, 2022May 5, 2022 By blog_786 No Comments on What Is DashPass?

What Is DashPass?.

If you’ve spent a lot of time using DoorDash, then you know how expensive ordering food delivery through this service can be.

The DoorDash DashPass offer has the potential to save you a lot of money. This is a subscription service where you pay a fixed fee every month. In return, you can avoid shipping fees (yes, mostly free shipping) and lower your service fees. If you use DoorDash frequently, DashPass subscribers can save a significant amount.

What Is DashPass: Cost and Limitations

You can subscribe to DashPass at any time. Once you choose to do so, DoorDash will charge your credit card $9.99 per month whether you ordered anything from the service or not.

However, once you sign up and start ordering food, you’ll see how quickly DoorDash DashPass members can make up the difference and come out ahead.

In the example below, regular fees would be:

$3.99 shipping $8.51 fees and estimated taxTotal: $12.50.

With a DoorPass subscription, DashPass benefits reduce costs as follows:

$0.00 shipping $5.04 for fees and estimated taxTotal: $5.04

Basically, in this one order, all you really pay is sales tax and any tips you would like to give your rider. In one order, you will already save about half of the monthly subscription fee thanks to DashPass privileges..

There are a few important restrictions to keep in mind before you decide to sign up for the DoorPass service.

The restaurant you order from must accept DoorPass (most do).You must order in order to to receive the discount, you will need to order products worth at least $12 or $25.You will need to order from DoorDash at least three times a month to receive the discount.

You can also reduce the cost of DoorPass by paying annually, bringing the cost down to $8/month (saving $1.99/month).

How to Use DashPass and Save More Money

If you use DoorDash frequently, subscribing to DashPass is easy. Paying a monthly fee up front can save you a lot of money. After the second or third order, you have already recovered your monthly fee, and at this stage it is all savings.

You can use DashPass from different areas on the DoorDash website or the DoorDash app. The easiest way to filter only local restaurants that accept DashPass is to select the DashPass filter at the top of the listing page.

Only those restaurants that allow you to avoid delivery charges will be displayed here. Alternatively, you can simply scroll through a normal listing page and identify eligible restaurants by the small DashPass icon next to the restaurant name.

Using DashPass doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of the other savings benefits on DoorDash as well. When you think about it, cutting shipping fees and saving in other ways will help you get your DashPass monthly fee back even faster.

One way to find additional savings is to open the DashPass menu and select Offers.

From the submenu at the top of the list, select “Offer Type” and select the “Discount” option. This is important because with a DashPass membership, you no longer pay for shipping.

Additional promotional discounts on DoorDash are sometimes up to 20% of the total order value. This is on top of the shipping savings you already get with a DashPass subscription.

As mentioned earlier, you can save an additional $1.99 per month by taking advantage of the annual plan. To do this, select the DoorDash menu and then select Manage DashPass.

This will take you to your DashPass plan. Select the “Learn More” link in the “Annual Plan” section.

Other DashPass Considerations

There are a few additional things to keep in mind when using a DashPass membership.

Every time you order, just look at the subtotals to keep track of the savings you get with every order. You’ll see a reduction in DoorDash shipping fees (down to $0.00) and fees and estimated tax depending on the order.

What Is DashPass?

One piece of advice: Just because you save so much money on every eligible order by subscribing doesn’t mean you should save on Dasher tips.

Dasher works hard and they do this work on the side to better support their families. Tipping goes all the way to runners, so don’t cut your tip just to save more money. In fact, since you’re saving money on every order, why not split a dollar or two of that savings by tipping a little more than usual?

Is DashPass Worth It?

Does its Really Save Money? If you’re still trying to decide if you should sign up for it, the math is actually quite simple.

If you only use it once or twice a month to order food, you don’t really need a DashPass subscription. Chances are you’ll be spending more money each month than it’s worth. However, if you find yourself ordering from DoorDash three or more times a month – even once a week – you’ll save money by subscribing to DashPass. If you don’t like it, you can cancel it at any time (unless you signed up for an annual membership).

What Is DashPass?

Savings on just two orders offset the cost of the subscription, and then each subsequent order is a net savings. So if that’s you, buy its  today and get free shipping on all your takeaways! And there is no limit. You get unlimited free deliveries every month.

By the way, food delivery services GrubHub and Uber Eats also offer a free delivery subscription if you use these services frequently.
