Have you heard or read about Windows Support Center? Do you want to know what you can do with Windows Action Center? Or do you want to disable notifications from Windows Action Center? Maybe turn off the entire Windows Action Center altogether? You have come to the right place.
Windows Action Center actually started life on the ill-fated Windows Phone 8.1. Then, in mid-2015, it hit Windows 10. Some people find it annoying and some really like that they can do things from one simple place.
Where do I find Windows Action Center?
Look at the right end of the taskbar. You should see an icon that looks like a speech bubble. Click on it to see the various settings and applications that you can manage from there, as well as various notifications. Note that the icon will not always look the same. Every little change to the icon says something.
Click this icon to see the entire Windows Action Center. It will slide out from the right side of the screen and expand from top to bottom. It will resemble the image below.
What does Windows Action Center do?
The Windows Action Center is a feature that provides easy access to various settings and utilities. You’ve probably already noticed that it also sends an array of notifications about your computer’s health, various applications, and Windows tips.
There are two areas in the Windows Action Center. Quick action area and notification area. In the image below, notifications are shown on the left and utilities are shown on the right.

See how the notification area can tell us what to do right from the notification? This can make making changes easier and faster than digging into Windows settings or Control Panel.
The Quick Action Pane makes it easy to use Windows features without rushing to chase a goose. However, it is limited to 16 specific actions.
How do I change action boxes?
Perhaps due to the fact that it appeared on Windows Phone, action tiles are easy to change.
Right-click any action tile and select Edit Quick Actions.
Tiles now have button icons. If you want to remove the action from view, click the pushpin.
If you want to add an action, click the Add button and select an action. For this example, we will select airplane mode.
Don’t like where the flight mode tile ends up? This is normal. Just press and hold it and then drag to the desired location. When all the steps are done where you want, click the “Finish” button to confirm the changes.
How do I turn off Windows Action Center notifications?
One of the main complaints about Windows Action Center is notifications. When an action center is new to you, the number of notifications can be annoying. Don’t worry, this is completely customizable. You can turn off all notifications completely, or just choose which notifications you want to receive.
In the upper-right corner of the Windows Action Center, click Manage Notifications.
A window for configuring notifications and actions will open. Scroll down to the Notifications section and click the sliding button under Receive notifications from apps and other senders. This will disable all notifications.
You can also customize notifications. Just scroll down a bit to see your options. You can turn on and off notifications from individual apps. You can also use the focus assist settings to more accurately identify the warnings you receive. Perhaps the nicest feature is the scheduling feature in the “At This Time” section. It really allows you to get the best of both worlds.
Scroll a little further and you’ll see that you can control where and how notifications are sent. They can appear on the lock screen, play sounds and give helpful Windows tips in random order.
Below you will see that you can manage notifications from specific apps. Not just Microsoft apps, as you can see on the Discord and Chrome listing.
Tap on one of the apps in this list and you’ll see how precise managing notifications becomes.
The different combinations for receiving notifications seem endless. This is much more than we can tell here.
How to completely disable Windows Action Center
We’re not sure why you want this, but it’s surprisingly easy to do. Before doing this, disable all notifications using the information above. This method won’t get you rid of Windows Action Center and Notifications in one go. There are ways to do this through the Windows Registry or Local Security Policy, but that’s more than the average person might want to do.
In the system search bar, start typing pivot system icons. It will return matching system on or off system icons. Click to go to this settings page.
Find the Action Center on the page and click the slider button next to it. It will change from On to Off. Now look at the taskbar where Windows Action Center was and you will see that it is no longer there.
To turn it back on, navigate to the same location and press the slider button again.
Take action!
