WWDC 2020 – How to Enable Sound Recognition on iOS 14.
Apple announced many major updates at WWDC2020 with iOS 14, such as PiP, a new Siri interface, widgets, and more. However, there are a few features that weren’t covered in the keynote that enhance the usability of iPhone collectors. One of them is the new sound recognition feature, which is great for people with mild or complete hearing disabilities. When enabled, your phone will display a pop-up notification as soon as it detects a certain sound, such as a dog barking, a baby crying, etc. Let’s see how to enable sound recognition in iOS 14.

How to enable voice recognition on iOS 14
It’s very easy to enable this feature in iOS 14. Go to Settings and select Accessibility. Now scroll down to Sound Recognition and enable this option.
You will now see a new “Sounds” option where you can choose which sound the phone should recognize. You have control toggle for each sound, so it’s easy to only enable the ones you think you’ll miss.
Currently, there are 14 different sounds, ranging from alarms such as siren, smoke, animal sounds, cats and dogs. In addition, you also have the recognition of everyday household sounds like car horns, doorbell, running water, etc. If you have a baby in your home, you can be sure as it also detects the sound of baby crying.
Note. While it is accurate and detects sounds most of the time, you should not rely on this option in emergencies or dangerous situations for your own safety.

Apple is trying to strengthen its accessibility and I believe that is the right direction. This makes the iPhone great not only for a wider audience, but also for people with disabilities.
